I'm in love!!! I ordered the new 12x12 paper cutter after reading it about it on the other thread. SO of course I called m CMC and she gave me hers. I have not had a chance to use it yet this morning because I'm so in love with the new albums, new stickers and the new paper method!!! The new catolog just came out I'm not sure if it is online yet or not but CM fans will flip for all the new stuff.

Of course the new Thanks to you gift is amazing but I'm not having a show. (my friends don't scrap) My CM is nice but she won't let me just buy it form her. UGH!

Wha tis the new CM Hostess gift -
LOL I don't even know!

I might have to get the 12" cutter - took them long enough and my fiskars never cuts straight anymore

My CMC let me just buy the new TTY gift---it's very cool. It's a small journal mate case (in red), with 4 pens in BOTH round and fine tip- a gold, aqua, green and red. A bit different than the standard colors and I was so excited to get a yellowish color!

Alice that is the old one the new one is calledMemeroies and Moments and it is beautiful paper and matching journal boxes. It is really pretty! It is the Chronicle

I'm hoping they will sell those pens soon in the regualar line soon. I want that yellow as well.

For those of you who's consultants don't let you buy the coordinator or MKC gifts, please don't be upset we them. We are really not supposed to give them away. It's one of your incentives for people to have classes and help spread the word. In addition, CM does not do sales tax on them. Technically, if your CMC is selling them, she should be filling out forms and sending in extra taxes on them.

I'd never report anyone for that or anything, but also not something I'd do, because the tax man would catch up to me. That's just my luck!

wtpclc - Since you are a CMC, can you answer a question for me? I meant to ask my CMC the other day, but we were having too much looking at the new stuff (especially the Journaltopia!). What's the deal with CM papers and albums in regards to sizing? My best friend has 2 CM albums, and I am going to purchase one for my next album (but I have a few more to finish before that - lol!), so I am intrigued by the paper sizing - it's not true 12 x 12 right? What about the new papers, are they now almost 12 x 12?

Sorry if this is off-topic (I guess it's not really), but I am interested in some of the new albums & papers, but I want to find out more about the sizing restrictions first as I have lots of nice 12 x 12 paper (not CM) that I would assume would have to be trimmed in order to fit.

Thanks, Tiger

Tiger926 - Because of the reinforcing edges on our pages, it is not true 12x12. The width is cut down ~a half inch (don't quote me on this).

CM has not historically supported wallpapering, because it makes pages heavy and they tend to no longer lie flat. Also, it tended to make it harder to see journaling. From what I've read, this will not be a problem with the new bigger paper. In addition, they will be the exact size of CM pages. This may also be why CM is feeaturing a lot of journaling boxes these days, to promote wallpapering.

If you use your old paper, it would need to be trimmed in ovne direction. (See new 12" trimmer :teeth: )

Another reminder, CM will have the new bigger paper, but they will continue to have 10x12 too. I'm willing to bet that it will all coordinate, though.

I hope that answered all of your questions. Feel free to pm me if you want more specifics!

Thanks for that quick info - I'm on lunch as our exams just ended (high school teacher) so thanks for keeping me occupied! In regards to the wallpapering issue, I don't layer my pages, I take out the white paper, and just do my layout on the coloured or printed paper. Does CM not recommend this? As I said, I am now converting to CM products as I've been using some other stuff as well over the past 8 months since I've started scrapping, and I've realized that CM stuff is the best (for me anyway) - although I got myself in trouble on another scrapping message board for giving this opinion! I really like the fact that I've used a few other tools that I purchased from Michael's and other LSS as it has helped me see how awesome CM products are!

Thanks, Tiger

Does anyone know when CM will me selling the new almost 12x12 paper? Does the new catalog have the new stuff that will be coming the next few months or just the stuff that has been introduced since the last catalog??

I like the new paper packs with the shades. I'm just waiting for the pinks/reds and blues.

erikalk - AFAIK the new catalogs will only have the new stuff through March.

Tiger - No problem. It sounds to me like you're using top loading pages that come with white card stock in them? With CM, you scrap right on the pages, so there would not be anything that you could substitue for colored pages
(except neutral, black or spargo). I've only don top-loading once (for the Make-A-Wish album). Besides that. I've only used CM, so I'm not really sure I answered your question.

I'm sorry to see that some people are so anti CM. Like all things, there are some CMCs that I've heard are harsh and some people have gotten totally turned off from CM. That's too bad. There are a lot of WONDERFUL CMCs out there.

Thanks for clearing up the confusion - I just remembered once you mentioned the pages that my best friend scraps right onto her CM pages and adds paper when necessary. I am doing my Disney scrapbook right now (Sandylion - postbound, top loading) and I really like this. I haven't worked with my own CM album as of yet, so when the time comes, I'll see how I like working with that particular style. I have heard mentioned that with CM albums you have to scrap in order, is that correct? With my album, I can change pages as it's very easy to do, but I know my friend's CM album takes quite a bit longer to work with.

You have answered my questions and you are right about how some people are very anti CM - I guess it's because they did have a bad experience or they are looking to have a bad experience in order to justify badmouthing the company. I'm not sure why, but I have just discovered this on my other scrapping board. It's very interesting indeed, but as I'm discovering, it has a lot to do with a person's individual scrapping style - I have found that most of the people who badmouth CM products do tons of layouts without paying any big deal to the quality of products that they place in their books. I frequently hear stuff like, "Who cares if I have to reprint my photos, or redo a layout. At least I'm getting my books done!" To each his own, I guess! Honestly, CM products cost a little more money, but they are so worth it and I bet in the long run, those of us who use CM products will have spent less money on stuff since we aren't having to replace things as often.

Great talking with you, Tiger

wtpclc...you are so right!!

My CMC is awesome! She doesn't mind if we bring in or promote "contraband" materials like punches, die cuts(Jolee's) or paper. She acknowledges that CM doesn't manufacture all the cool extras. Best of all...she used to work at WDW as an imagineer.

On the other hand a CMC I know from church is appalling. She basically turned her nose up at anyone that used products other than CM. I affectionately call her the CM Nazi.

It's amazing at the differences in CMC's.

Tiger - Anytime! Yes, it is a little harder to re-arrange CM pages. You'll have to see for yourself. When I scrap an event, I try to make it end on the "back" or left side of the page. That way if I want to pull out that event and put it in a different book, I can. I find I still like it better than top loaders for me, but everyone does have their own style.

2bemarried - My philosophy is to show people what you do in your albums and tell them why your product is so good. However, you get more flies with honey than with vinegar. I have clients who apologize for having stickers from life before meeting me. I have never said anything negative about any other company's products (and we are trained not to)! It's just too bad the way some people do things.

FYI - I'd LOVE to know who your CMC is. A former Imagineer and a CMC. She's my new hero! Could you pm me with her name? I'd love to say hi if we ever met up along the way.

Each person has their own scrapbooking style. The bottom line is that we are preserving our photos & memories regardless of exactly how it is done.

Every so often the topic comes up - Creative Memories vs. the rest of the scrapbooking world. I think many of us started with CM or were hghly influenced by CM. Some people use only CM & others use a variety of supplies from different companies.

I have many CM products, but personally I prefer top loading albums. It is my personal preference. Shortly after I started to scrap, I found local stores with sb items - two LSS, Michael's, AC Moore, etc. I also try to pay close attention & look for acid-free products. For me, CM is one of the many sources where I can find sb products.

does anyone have a link to the new paper trimmer? I am not a CM album user but I do love their tools. Right now I have the cutterped or something like that it is green and has a rotory blade. I had the original CM cutter but dropped it and it broke. I didn't care for it because of the 2 piece thing, mat and cutter. But I would love to see the new cutter.

I to am a CM consultant but I don't care if my clients use non cm stuff or not. In fact I do. I went to Niagara Falls and we visited the Hershey store in Canada. Well I sure got Hershey stickers and stuff like that because CM doesn't make them. If they did I would buy them. Same with Disney, they just don't have the Disney stuff the LSS does. My customers know that and I think that puts them at ease.

Wtp-
Um, confused about something you said about the business enhancers. I don't sell them to my clients, of course I have never been asked to, but when I order I am automatically charged sales tax on it from home office. What is this about filling out papers and stuff?

Um, not to be rude here but....

"have found that most of the people who badmouth CM products do tons of layouts without paying any big deal to the quality of products that they place in their books. I frequently hear stuff like, "Who cares if I have to reprint my photos, or redo a layout. At least I'm getting my books done!" To each his own, I guess! I am greatly offended by that. I have cm products that I like, I don't like the cm attidude that they are the best product on the market. I'm sorry, they aren't. I dont' bash cm, I just don't care for it. But to say that those of us who scrap "on the dark side" (my personal term) don't pay attention to quality is a bunch of bull. Just because it isn't cm "approved" doesn't mean it isn't safe to use. And what products are you replacing frequently? I am still using my 12inch paper trimmer that I've had for 6 years.... still have the same scissors, the same hole punches, I haven't replaced a darn thing yet. (none of which by the way are cm products) (well, ok adhesive) This is why there is the divide between cm and non cm, because people get ugly about it and can't just agree to disagree. Personally, I honestly don't care how anyone else scraps, I get offended when I'm constantly told that cm is the only way to go and that my books are too lumpy, bumpy, etc and "gasp" not safe.
I"m glad you have found something you like, great, but please don't blast the people who don't scrap "the cm way". live and let live. maggie
