New Character Breakfast coming to the Boardwalk

I'm not interested at all in booking this restaurant after it becomes a character breakfast.

But, I am sure that there are many people that are thrilled to have another option for a character breakfast.

They're just such a ripoff...but it's not like they're double the price of ten years ago...

Wait a minute...checking numbers...

Another character meal aimed at the princess crowd. That's ridiculous. They could use Marvel, Star Wars, or someone from any of their more recent movies, or even Pixar (Monsters' Inc could be cool).

I'm also a little sad they took off a what has been a pretty decent breakfast that doesn't need a reservation most days.

Well in their defense this does include the princes which is something they don't normally do. Marvel of course is a touchy subject so I don't think they want to go there. I have heard Kathleen Kennedy does not like the whole Star Wars Character meal idea which is why they stopped it at Sci-Fi Dine IN. You also had the Disney Characters dressed up like Star Wars Characters, I have heard she really didn't like that.

Monster's inc would be cool but logistically, Sully would be quite large to have in a dining room especially with his arm movements.

I get the not liking goofy dressed as darth Vader...that's dumb...

But I'm a Star Wars purist and I don't mind a character meal
With the costumed characters...they're all over the park anyway.

Maybe that's on deck when they get around to building something?

And if Kathy Kennedy is so touchy about legacy...she shouldn't have authorized a slate of reboots.

Oh, the princes! I mean, I know my 2 year old son talks all about Eric and Charming, and Flynn and...No, he doesn't! Nor do both his cousins who are 8. Now, they all like Star Wars (mind you, the 2 year old only knows about Storm Troopers and goes "pew pew" with anything that looks like a blaster), Monsters' Inc, Toy Story, and some of the more recent movies like Big Hero 6.

I'm sure plenty of girls and ladies will love this but frankly with how small most of the roles of the princes, why should any boy care about them and be clamoring to go?

And as frustrating as the whole poor choices for boys in terms of character meals, more concerning is what will probably be a loss of good, quality, unique food in favor of their cookie cutter offerings/buffets.

I get it. However I think it's just easy for them to do Fab 5 and princess character meals. Like I said with Monsters Inc or Big hero 6 it would be logistically hard due to the size of the characters. Toy Story might be doable but I don't know how well thematically that would work at the Boardwalk.

I don't think we will see a character meal at least not how we know them in the current form in Star Wars Land. They will definitely have characters all over that land though.

I'm sad to see this happen. This is one of our favorite breakfast places! We love walking in and sitting down to a nice quiet meal that is always good. The restaurant is not that big, so I'm trying to figure out how the characters can maneuver around the tables. I just hope it is not family style and they keep the menu!

Ya know cause when I think Italian restaurant I totally think Rapunzel.
I was thinking the same thing. This just doesn't fit. And I'm saying this as a girl mom who loves princesses but some things just need to be left alone.

well, if they are going to insist on only characters being in restaurants that make sense then they need to move the meal hosted by Belle out of Norway and into France ... I am sure people would love if Chef de France or Monsier Paul became a character meal ;)

I'm of two minds about this as well. We always stay at the Boardwalk and find Trattoria's breakfast to be a little known gem. The menu is fantastic and the restaurant is never full in the morning. We tend to make reservations anyway, but at no point have we ever seen it too full for walk-ins. Half the time we feel weird saying we have a reservation when there is literally like three other tables being used. I suppose Disney needs to increase the traffic in the mornings. I think most people just don't think an Italian place that is not in the parks (and without characters) is worth their time and effort getting to for breakfast. In fairness, if we didn't stay at the Boardwalk, we would never have even considered this place for breakfast either. We don't ever go to non-Boardwalk restaurants for breakfast because we tend to want to get to the parks early and don't want all that early morning travel/dining to delay us much.

If they keep the menu (particularly the Breakfast calzone-- that was great), then I am all for this. If they don't, then its a double-edged sword. My children love Rapunzel and Ariel. And they have always wanted to meet, but never have met, Eric and Flynn. They will be psyched by a M&G so close and I will be happy to get their autographs marked off in my kids books without having to "burn" park time finding all those M&Gs somewhere else. However, I will be severely disappointed if they just turn this into another standard breakfast buffet.

Well, if the restaurant is never full I can understand Disney wanting to do something.

I definitely understand the appeal of a calm place to start the day with good food, etc. though

I bet it won't take long for it to become a breakfast buffet. Either that or they will need to make it one price AYCE. Otherwise, you'll have people going in and ordering the cheapest item on the menu, or splitting a meal, just to see the characters. I think this sounds nice, although I'd love it if they would include one more pair, but I don't see that happening. 4 characters always feels a little light for a character meal, and if they round as pairs, it will feel even lighter.

I agree they will have to move it to a "pay one price" - maybe with a fixed type menu of pick an app and entree type thing vs buffet

I also think what they said was just an example of who would be there (it even used "or" not "and" when listing repuzel and little mermaid) so I think it would be more than just those 4 .... just that they don't have the final details yet

Well, I really hope that if they move to a single price (fine by me), they don't also change it to a buffet (horrible).

I could live with up-charging the menu a bit to get to a single price (i.e., can rationalize that for the characters), but keeping the same a la carte menu and turning it into a prix fixe. That is the model for CRT meals. That concept would be fine with me, but of course it would need to be much cheaper than CRT. Cape May has the standard buffet breakfast with character meals just five minutes away for those looking for buffet.

I sure hope so. But I still don't see them rounding more than 2 or maybe 3 pair.

Can't wait to hear about it though. I hope they do this right!
