New BOG Dinner Menu

All of you folks worried about your allergies: Don't be. When you make your ADR, mark that you have food restrictions.

When you arrive, mention it AGAIN to your server that you need to speak to the chef.

The chef will come to your table and go over your requirements and they will cook you an appropriate meal.

Disney is the BEST at accommodating food restrictions.

I think most are less "worried" than "wondering" what various accommodations will look like, and whether they will think the swaps are "worth it" to them as part of a signature prix fixe meal. For example, one poster mentioned she'd like fruit in place of the regular dessert; another poster considers that an inadequate replacement. Myself, I will be watching as more reviews come in (and hoping Vegan Disney World does a review soon!)

According to Disney Food Blog's review:
Be Our Guest Restaurant made history as the first restaurant in Magic Kingdom to serve beer and wine, and of course that option remains. (Soda, milk, and other non-alcoholic beverages are included with your meal.)
Thanks!

Having looked at the menu, I think they did a good job with the adult menu. Nice selection of choices and seems fairly priced.
The kids menu isn't bad as far as variety compared to other restaurants. The price does seem a littel steep.
I suspect going to pre-fixe will bump up demand for breakfast and lunch ADRs and decrease dinner demand. Probably still going to be full all the time, maybe just not as far in advance.
Still not high up on our must go to list.

I really enjoyed our BOG experiences in the past. I'm a vegetarian and thought the ratatouille dish was delicious and disappointed that it's gone. I also liked that you could chose your dessert which is no longer the case.
I have a reservation on our MNSSHP night around 6:30pm. I was hoping dinner would be about 1 hour has it had been in the past. Reports so far say 2 hours from being seated to exiting and I'm not willing to use that much party time eating. I'm really sad to have to cancel because BOG was something we looked forward to every trip.
I agree. I could enjoy the ratatouille, but I am GF and vegetarian, so still have to call to see if they can accomodate. We also went last year during MNSSHP. Have a reservation for this year during the party, but like you, I['m not sure I want to spend two hours of the party there. I guess it will depend on how much MK we get in if/when we visit on a non-party day.

I think they should close off the Rose Room, move all the extra tables/chairs in there for dinner, and then have Belle and the Beast do a little waltz in the empty space in the ballroom before going off to do meet n greets in the study...I'd pay $55 for that! :)

For us the desserts are part of the issue, because we almost very rarely get them with a meal, and which DH & I would not eat, but that issue exists with any fixed price meal, not just BOG. They're cute, but I don't want to pay for desserts I won't eat. I guess I'm the exact opposite of the cupcake people! I want to go to BOG and not get the grey stuff! is that even allowed? ;) ;)
When we went before the change and were on the dining plan, I was allowed to get a side salad instead of the dessert. Not sure if that will still be the case, but I plan on asking when we go in December. We aren't dessert people and can easily share one dessert trio between the 3 of us.

I’m fine with no Belle, but would love to see Luminiere and Gogsworth would be amazing
I'm sure a lot of people would love those characters. If that happened, we could expect the food to become banquet quality almost immediately. I'd prefer higher quality food, because I think MK needs a signature restaurant with high quality food. Unfortunately, WDW doesn't combine character dining & high quality food on a permanent basis. I'd prefer they compromise by making breakfast & lunch a TS, character meal & have dinner remain fine dining.

Actually? LOVING this :). You see, Dear Wife and I are NEVER going here :). We consider BOG to be a FAKE SIG, established for Crowd Control.
But everyone ELSE? PLEASE, book this.... More bookings at the REAL SIG Restaurants for us :). Tourist diversions can be good - for those that avoid them :).

(psst - notice there is no weight designation for the Filet? Think "thimble") :).

One can get "Character Dining" or "Fine Food". NEVER both.

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.
Shouldn't you maybe try the food & atmosphere, before deciding it's a fake signature?

Small portions are normal for signatures. We prefer that. It allows us to enjoy more courses.

I was thinking the same thing, how can you knock something you haven't tried? Also, all the reviews I've seen so far have all talked about how very good sized the filet is.

While it never hurts to ask, the trading of a dessert for side salad happens at an a la carte restaurant which BoG no longer is. It is a prix fix. If you chose a prix fix meal (Chefs de France for example), they would not allow a substitution. You choose within the prix fix menu.

With that said, they do have a salad on the app course, so they very well may let you trade your dessert course for an extra app course

THIS! We very rarely do character dining for two reasons: firstly, the food quality is always pretty terrible because they're luring you in with the characters, they don't need to make an effort with the food, and secondly, I find character dining to be very awkward. I think it's great that WDW has so many character dining locations for those who do enjoy it, but not everything needs to go that way, and MK has two already.

Better than even money that lunch is a price fixe within a year.

It appears breakfast is the biggest problem. Those ordering the minimum on a PPO ADR seem to be the biggest offenders. It appears even DIS moderators encourage it. They have no problem encouraging people supporting a loophole. I'm amazed that the BOG managers haven't put a stop to this a long time ago. If they want to keep their job, they should make both breakfast & lunch prix fixe.

If the DIS stood behind their own rules, they would make their mods stops supporting the best way to exploit every loophole. For some restaurants, the mods constantly encourage people spending as little as possible. IMO, telling people to spend as little as possible at the most desired restaurants shouldn't be a part of a mods job.

Actually this is not a loophole. BOG breakfast was advertised as prix fixe, yet the first day that little red wagon got tossed out teh gorgeous door and as long as one person ordered teh entire party was granted entry. You woudl think that Disney woudl have reacted to this problem but slamming that door closed to those who were nto abiding by ther "rule" however they decided to accomodate them by offering a cupcake to order ala carte. A loophole is an unforeseen problem that people in the know take advantage of. This "loophole" was torn wide open my Disney rather than try to close it.

Frankly, I wish that Disney had kept that prix fixe menu in place, and that everyone who wanted breakfast was given that price. I liked the meal we had, and thought that the first round of pastry was delicious. Freshly and baked crispy, this plate of goodness added a special touch to the meal. You go now and you share what I thought tasted like the generic boxed baked goods in the discount section on the grocery stroke. I honestly believe this problem is not guest induced, but Disney induced. I also agree that if the fixed cost dinner is a success and if it alleviates the revenue problem and opens the ADR's a bit, breakfast will be revamped.

I read on another blog (can't remember which) that BOG going to a signature meal was always the plan. It just took Disney a bit of time to execute it. Maybe that's why they allow the cupcake only eaters at lunch and dinner or the one entrée for 4 people at breakfast. At the end of the day they know this won't last forever and eventually the whole restaurant will be prix fixe.

I don't consider this a loophole. Disney allows it FOR NOW and are making changes, starting with dinner.

Well we have a resie in Dec for a party of 4 and I have been trying to modify to a party of 5. Still no luck. I try about 5 times a day. No cancellations for my day then.

Le Cellier...we used to go all the time until it went signature. But we had tried to get an ADR there a few times with no luck until this past March. We tried modifying that too, to add 2 more guests and never could get it. I find Le Cellier sill hard to book.

Have you tried searching for 6 people? Disney dining is notorious for having issues searching for an odd number of people. Also, have tried setting up a search using a reservation finder like the one on touringplans.com? I've used it with great success in the past.

Yes and yes

I’m pretty sure they did do a review. The vegan option was the salad, the pasta minus the ricotta and sorbet I think. It looked rather pathetic considering the price. I have a ADR for November 4th and I’m 99% sure I’ll end up dropping it soon as it’s not worth the price for us. We are 2 adults plus 2 Disney adults including one vegan, one vegetarian and one picky 16 year old who wouldn’t like anything on the adult menu.
