We are planning to go down for a 2 week vacation at the end of July and i was wondering about the boats we can rent at the various Disney hotels. The last time I rented one, it was a pontoon boat because the kids were too young. I remember seeing that they now rent mini-boats for about $25/hour. Are there any regular sized power boats for rent? Also, I saw a picture of the water in front of the Polynesian and it looked algae green - has the 7 Seas Lagoon got a pollution problem now?

There is the Brain Eating Amoeba, but that's not a huge problem. I don't have a link, but it's a common situation in any lake or pond particularly in the south where the water is warm.

I've heard from some people that with all the new construction over the past couple years that Disney has not been as .....innovative with their water treatment as the original resorts were and with more pavement, the watertable is becoming more nutrient rich and thus more Algea and the aformentioned Amoeba. (this is rumor, I' can't confirm it)

Still, Disney offers waterskiing and other water activities, They test the water regularly, so it's not something to be concerned with.

:smooth: I thank you for sending me the weblinks on the boats - it helped alot. Now, if we can get some decent weather it'll be great!
