This is an interesting article! However, in my area Northern California we don't say "the" before the freeway number. We say "Highway" or just the number. Another cultural difference between the two halves of the state.

That's weird, because in Fresno we use "the" (the 99, the 41, the 180, the 168). The weird part is that we're typically more like Northern California not Southern. I don't want to be like them!!!
