I just went to the vital statistics web site to order our birth cert., for our cruise, and boldly stated is that the new cert. being issued, no longer has a raised seal. I'm sure that I read somewhere that you must have an authentic raised seal bith cert. to present for indentification. We live in Virginia, has anyone else been issued one of these new cert. and were they acceptable for ID? Thank you!

We sailed last May and my California birth certificate does not have a raised seal. The stamp, however, does say "Certified" and I had no problems at all.

My birth cert. has been around so long, it was starting to deteriorate. So, I sent off for a new one (State of Kansas) and there's not a raised seal on it either. However, it is stamped, and states that it is Certified.

but ours are certified copies. In fact ours are sealed in plastic like a credit card size so you couldnt feel a raised seal anyway. From the disneycruise.com website

What documentation do I need to bring?
All U.S. and Canadian citizens must travel with proof of citizenship, which is a valid passport, original, state-certified birth certificate and picture identification, or a certified naturalization certificate with a picture identification. Acceptable forms of picture identification are state or provincial driver's license, or federal, state, province or local government photo I.D. card. Guests age 17 and under who are U.S. or Canadian citizens are only required to have proof of citizenship, excluding picture identification. These guidelines are based on U.S. government regulations which are subject to change at any time. It is the Guest's responsibility to check with their Travel Agent, government agencies, embassies or consulates prior to their vacation to ensure that they have proper documentation. Any Guest traveling without proper documentation will not be allowed to board the vessel and no refund of cruise fare will be issued.

No raised seal mentioned just certified copy! I'm sure you will be fine as long as it is not a hospital record but a certified copy.

I was also born in VA & only had the credit card type birth card so I ordered the BC for our cruise last year to be safe. I was also concerened that it didn't have the raised seal. I didn't have any problem at any time with that BC.
