Calling all Universal experts! My only knowledge of Universal is from the official website and tidbits on the DIS. We have been holding off an Universal visit until our DS is about 9-10 yrs of age. He is 7 now. So maybe 2009-2010 visit. I hear small talk about Harry Potter, Simpsons, etc etc. So what would be new by the year 2010?

You need a pretty big set of crystal balls ;) to make any definitive predictions.

Simpsons will certainly be done. There appears to be a new coaster planned at the front of Universal Studios. Possibly with a 2009 opening. I haven't been following the Harry Potter announcements, so I'm not sure if they have a tentative date yet established.

But know this - if they add absolutely nothing, you'll likely have one of your best ever vacations (assuming you stay on site) and you'll want to return the following year. If they add something for your second trip - it'll be gravy.

Even at 7 years old, your youngest would absolutely love both parks. Don't wait too long.

Agreed!!

We took DD when she was 7 and she absolutely loved both US and IOA (also took her when she was 5 hahaha she loved it then too)
:woohoo:

I've taken my kids from ages 13 months up to 10 years and we've all had a fabulous time! (And, we keep on coming back!):thumbsup2 The 13 month old just turned 7.

Harry Potter and Simpsons aren't small talk. They are reality. Simpsons will be up and running this Spring. The Harry Potter area still has a few years to go.

When you say new, you mean new as of when?

Thanks Everyone for the info. I think we will make our 2010 trip to be Universal. My DH is excited about the "Simpsons". We have gone back & forth about the age thing. I wanted to make sure we can enjoy everything. He does great on small/medium size coasters not sure about the ones at IOA. Also he sometimes is nervous with some dark rides still. We never forced him on to attractions and that has helped. At the age of 4 1/2 he wasn't ready for Test Track at Epcot but he loved it at 6. Still not so sure about DINOSAUR at AK but he did ride it. He has just shown some interest in Harry Potter this year. This year he started to love the 3D movies. He has accept waiting for Universal for a couple more years. He is still content with Disney and Sea World.
