New AP perk - Disney Dining Experience

Thanks, zulaya. I figured it started the 2nd but just thinking that she should have told me since I told her we weretn't going to the parks until mid-Jan. was my card going to arrive in time. Well, now I just got off the phone with them. ONly had to wait on hold about 25 minutes. They have cancelled my original request and put in a new one at the $50 rate. Very nice about it. Just wanted to let everyone know it turned out fine. I was told that when I ordered it on the 22nd they didn't know about the changes taking place.

So if we have an AP that is good through June, we could buy the DDE now, and use it all year? Or would it no longer be good once our APs are bad?

The CM I spoke with yesterday told me specifically "you need to know that unlike an AP the Disney's Dining Cards will all expire Jan 31st of 2006 regardless of which month they are purchased". I didn't ask her, she just volunteered the information and seemed to know what she was talking about. I just looked at my e-mail and it says 'membership valid through 1/31/06' and 'this letter is valid through February 28, 2005' She wrote if you have any questions or require further information, please contact me at the above number, and it's signed Rosa Flores, and she is listed as Coordinator-Disney Dining. The e-mail is specific with your name stating you are a current member in good standing with Disney's Dining Experience. I know though that sometimes CM give the wrong information in good faith, but like I said she volunteered the expiration dates and said all of these $50.00 cards will expire Jan 31, 2006.

Thank you for giving us the specifics! I don't want you to think I was doubting what you said! That was certainly not the case at all! What I'm concerned about is exactly what you stated..."I know though that sometimes CM give the wrong information in good faith." I'm afraid that not all the CMs know all the details, with so many new things making their debuts this month!

I just spoke to a CM and she told me that I could buy myDDE card on Apr. 1 for my April 15 trip and that it would expire 1 year from the date of purchase. Now I am confused. Please help.

I am not as savvy as many of you so please correct me if I am wrong.

It seems to me, off the top of my head, that this dining discount is far better than the $35 a day offer (especially since I read a post where they are changing a lot of things that make it less valuable) but that the Q&C vouchers would still be a better idea for places like Maya Grill and Beaches & Cream.

I tried calling this morning again, but gave up after 15 minutes on hold. I'll try again late today if I still haven't seen it. Just wondering if they're this backed up processing, or has anyone else received their confirmation quicker in the last few days?

I ordered late Tuesday and was told I'd get the email Wednesday (yesterday). I actually received the email this morning (Thursday). The charge has not hit my credit card yet.

DDE is a very small division with a handful; of CMs at best. Yes, they are THAT backed up. WDWGuru, if you do not receive your email prior to your departure, I would call DDE once you arrive and ask them to fax the letter to your resort.

I ordered mine yesterday and was told to look for my e-mail yesterday evening. I haven't gotten anything yet, so I'll wait until Monday before checking on it.

I would guess that perhaps the reason the AP $50 deal cards all expire Jan 2006 is that it is a Passholder benefit for 2005. Who knows if it will be offered as a benefit again in 2006.

Just a guess, although I am hoping it will be good for one year from issue--I am waiting until Feb to order mine. (no sense fighting all of you on the phone lines, LOL!!) TBH, I won't get anymore use out of it either way, due to the timing of our trips. But it will save us TONS of money!!

We ordered ours yesterday at 4:00pm and we received our e-mail confirmation at 11:00am today!

This will be a big savings for us...a party of 9!!!

I've seen several confirmations that these cards are good for one full year from the issue date. I am going to guess that the CM meant to say that unlike APs that expire 365 days from the day they are activated, the DDE cards purchased in JANUARY all expire on 1/31/06 regardless of what DAY of the month thay were purchased. Just a guess ....

Just ordered my DDE card. Was on hold for less then 10 minutes. Spoke with a gentleman (think they have added some people.) Told him we were going in April and he suggested we wait till closer to that date, because if we order in April it would be good though next April. Didn't ask him to verify as was going to order today anyways and didn't want to be put on hold but, here is another country heard from!

I ordered my card on Tuesday 1/4 and just received my email confirmation this afternoon 1/6. So don't give up hope!!
