New AP info I heard today!!

:rolleyes1shhhhh..my friend and I often comment on how nice it would be to have an adults only day in Disneyland..no-one under 21 allowed :rolleyes1

The funny thing is that whenever my friends and I are at DLR, or specifically in DL, there is always an instance where we are walking along and there appears to be a great deal of space in front of us and to the sides of us, and yet someone pushing a stroller at warp speed comes out of somewhere and heads right towards us! It happens every time, and someone's ankles end up in the line of fire. After this happens, we look behind us and all around and there is always lots of room, so we can't figure out how it is that the random madman or madwoman with a stroller manages to end up heading right towards us when there is plenty of space to navigate around.

I am glad to know that there are others who are having these encounters with the 'stroller ninjas' as well and we are not the only ones!!! Certainly, 98% of the people pushing strollers are courteous and mindful of others, and there are times when the people without strollers get in the way of the ones with strollers (I have witnessed that happening too), but there is that little 2% of people who are pushing that stroller around like they are in a race to the finish and anyone in the way had better duck and cover!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

ETA: We also observed some 'wheelchair ninjas' too. We saw young-looking teenagers who seemed perfectly healthy and quite mobile hop into wheelchairs and their friends who were pushing them zoom through paths and lines for rides like it was a fun game.

Hey Sherry,

Don't forget the ECV ninjas, too, with the headlights right in your eyes!:rotfl2:

I would like everyone to know that I am a very cautious stroller pusher! LOL! :thumbsup2 AND I like the term "stroller ninja". I may have to ask the DISsigners to make it my strollers license plate! :rotfl2:
I have to say though that the reason I am so cautious is because people do not see my children. I have a double stroller and an 8 year old on one side and a nine year old on the other. I have had my kids banged into. My oldest daughter scratched by a woman's ring. Maddi was elbowed in the head. I do not push my way ahead. I look for the most open spot to walk. I look up at the walks that are crowded with people and wonder why the strollers don't come down to the open street. Sometimes though you do have to walk were everyone else is and we ALL should be a little more of an effort to be courteous of one another "stroller ninjas" and pedestrians alike! :lovestruc
In the stroller complaint department I have been in a stroller collusion at DL. There were no damages so I didn't get the other strollers info. But she almost tipped my stroller over in to the pound (OK I am being a little dramatic but seriously who gets in a fender bender in a stroller) by Frontier land on the bridge. Luckily it was empty and I was parked. :rotfl:

I also had someone climb over my stroller while waiting for my hubby at the Fantasmic show and knock down my baby. I was ticked, but some one else's husband was more mad than me who was holding a crying 3 year old and he said something to him. So I didn't have to. I chose to tell my husband when we were already back at the hotel. (he was getting me my first Dole Whip ever!:cool1:) Because that couple chose to stay next to us. The dole whip did help to console both the baby and me! :wizard:

Boys, Boys..please don't get snitful. Very interesting back and forth with great points of view and good reading, one of the most interesing threads in quite awhile, so let's keep up the discussion with all different points of view. popcorn::

Snitful you say? I had to look that one up….”Noun 1. snit - a state of agitated irritation; "he was in a snit"..” so I’m guessing that Snitful would be an act committed while in a Snit….That’s awesome, love it…..:)

Sorry If I was being Snity….don’t forget though “truth will emerge from vigorous debate”….I guess the question is where vigorous ends and Snitiness begins…….:)

I don't think he was in a "snit" at all...funny really you seemed more agitated by this whole "debate" then anyone else and you were totally off topic. :confused3 I'm just sayin! ;)

Stroller nazi. I had to have six stitches put in from one of those wonderful things.(2005) The Dad was screaming at me along with Mom because it was my fault. Security help them out of the park.
All I wanted is to talk to the Dad by myself.

Not realy....just participating, and I thought the word snitful was funy as a word in and of itself...in terms of thing to get upset about I've got plenty, fortunately none of them relate to any of the discussions on here....as for being off topic....I was responding to idea/comments/discussion that was already underway....in any case I'll opt out at this point and wish you the best of luck...:)

wow, no wonder you hate the strollers at disneyland!! i would, too. ouch.

i hate that a few bad apples ruin it for the rest of us, though. i for one have never, ever hit ANYONE with my stroller.

this will be our first trip ever without a stroller. i'm really looking forward to it. unfortunately, there are nazi-walkers at DLR too, who don't care if they knock over or step on little kids, so i will be REALLY glad when all of mine are tall enough to not be affected anymore by these types of people.

one more reason to try to stake out the least crowded times to visit disneyland!

I like the payment plan. I would never be able to afford an AP, much less a premium, without it. When we go, we just go for a few hours at a time.

I wish those "pushers" would just be a bit courteous and not charge thru the crowds hell bent for leather. For some reason some feel that every must clear a path for them and if they do not bump, bump they go. They wound up paying a $1200 bill for my stay in the ER. Should have sent them a bill for my time. A day later I wound up in an altercation will with a foul mouth drunk. Back to the Anaheim PD. Was not the best visit.

Personally I cannot stand the snitful AP holder stroller nazis. They really suck. ;)

i wish they'd be courteous, too. we're kind of a big group when we go (2 parents + 4 kids - although the oldest is grown so i guess it's really more like 3 adults + 3 kids), and we're always careful to keep our kids in hand (literally) so they don't accidentally step under somebody or anything. so it would be nice just to get that courtesy back. for the most part, it all goes fine, but there are always a rotten few who think they are the only people who exist (these would be the same ones you're referring to who act as though everyone is supposed to clear a path for them). sadly, it seems like our last visit was a lot worse in this way.

i'm thinking of going to WDW next time, simply because i get the impression that a lot of the time, the walkways are less packed than those at DLR, simply because there is more space overall. i guess i should check the WDW boards to see if they seem to be having the same problem with crowding issues related to increased AP's sold....

the altercation was with a drunk INSIDE disneyland?!!! wow, i've never encountered anyone drunk there. i would hate that!

Not sure what your friends and family did, but whether at DLR or WDW one needs to do some research and planning to avoid the worst of the lines. Even a little effort to understand about early arrival at the parks, when the shows are and how early to arrive, use of RideMax, use of FP, etc., can go a long ways. I know some people I talk to refuse to do any of the above. Then they are surprised and disappointed the lines are so long.
Some people spend thousands of dollars and arrive with no plan at all.
I agree with you, however, some people probably think they are going for a magical vacation destination that will be fun and relaxing -- and it's anything but sometimes. Also, some people just do not want to plan that far in depth or ahead of time. I think that my friends thinking is that if they have to plan that hard just to take a vacation, they'd rather go someplace relaxing and not have to deal with it.
I have gone out of my way to keep track of crowd levels based on information gleened from the various boards etc. It's HARD to plan a trip with the least amount of crowds but I have been able to do it. Sometimes it involves taking a child out of school 1 day to avoid horrible crowds. 1st you have to figure out when the NORMAL crowds are, then when the AP'S are blocked out or not blocked out, THEN you have to take the LA schools schedule into account, not to mention weather in LA, ride clousers etc. The days of the casual drop in spend the day at DL are over. How can the average out of town tourist do this? I understand DL wants the $$ but at some point I think it's too much. I don't understand why DL offers 2 levels of So Cal AP's why can't they just offer 1 plus the D and PAP?
I agree with you too. It's almost impossible to plan that far ahead and know who's on break when, how many APs are going to decide to just drop in after work, etc. 3 of the families I mentioned are teachers, so they couldn't leave school unless they were already on break, in which case, millions of other students are on break at the same time too.

lol, try being the one who has to jerk your kid to a screeching halt in their stroller just to avoid someone who would otherwise step right on them.
i've never actually been rolled on/bumped by a stroller at DLR, but i have many, many, many times had to yank the stroller quickly backwards to keep my kid from being injured by an inconsiderate adult who is pushing their way through the crowds. these were not people we were walking behind...they were people who came up behind us, or came at us from the side.
I saw so many parents with kids in strollers in June when it was crazy busy. I'll never forget seeing grown men literally leaping over babies in strollers so they could hurry along their way and get to whereever they were going faster. :scared1:It was such a hazard for them to be doing that and I can tell you if they did that to my baby they would've had an earful. I mean, one tiny mistake in judging how far they have to jump and the babies could have gotten seriously injured or worse! There is no excuse when grown adults start doing stupid things like that in a park that's packed to the gills. It's pure selfishness and stupidity.

The time period you say was hideously crowded was a blackout for all but PAP holders, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it wasn't the unwashed local horde that was wholly responsible.
I could be mistaken, but I don't think that's accurate. When Sherry went DAP holders were still allowed in. DAPs were blocked out from Dec 23, 2009, IIRC. Yes, it would have been extremely busy anyway...

:rotfl:No, no one was actually in a state of snitfulness, but rather the virtual tension was heading to a point were a virtual snit could possibly arise with any/all posters involved in the thread.
Really, I've enjoyed all the opinions and points of view. Maybe we all a little more time on our hands after Christmas, but this thread that originally asked if AP's would be locked out of the park has really drifted in an interesting way, and I thank the mods for letting it drift.

i prefer stroller Nazi over ECV Nazi. I remember someone ran into me and when i turn around like wth, she was like, you were in my way so its YOUR fault.

I was seriously wanting to slap her. :|

As a stroller nazi, I gotta say, I never whacked anyone. But I've come close several times. People really do walk around oblivious or they think they can just make a quick dash accross your path, or stop in the middle of a busy walkway. If everyone followed common sense traffic rules - look over your shoulder before you go in someone else's lane, try to be aware of what is around you, don't dash accross paths without looking both ways - people might get bumped into a lot less.

I'm just sayin'.:rolleyes1

I didn't say it was never hideously crowded, I said it isn't ALWAYS hideously crowded. The perception I was talking about is that everyone is whining that it is now crowded 365 days a year, which is patently untrue. Are you likely to ever walk through a mostly empty park, No...but there are days where it is perfectly pleasant and does not come anywhere near reaching capacity.

It just seems a shame to scare away the tourists by saying it is ALWAYS horribly crowded, because it just isn't. If you plan correctly, i.e. avoid major holidays and go when everyone is blacked out, crowds are normally just not that bad.

Could you be more specific about what months/days you think are "normal?" I think the normal days are gone. Now you have to pick a time when it is "less super-crowded". I know the weekdays in the '90s (before APs) when I would go to the park in February and ride on POTC, get off and walk right back on are OVER but I have been amazed at the crowd levels when I have gone lately and am prepared for my trip in two weeks to be insane. I hope I'm wrong, but you can't bank on low crowds anymore. THe old formula of avoiding holidays and going on weekdays doesn't ensure low numbers or wait times.

I agree...like walk on the correct side of the road/pathway....like "driving" rules!
