New Ap holder questions...

Hello all,
I just recently became an Ap holder and booked a trip for my Birthday using the Ap holders discount.
My question is
Generally how many times a year does a discount come out?
I'm hoping to make a few trips this year and want to plan ahead.
Also are you eligible for free dining with a room only ressie?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Congrats on becoming an AP member. We have had ours for about 6 years now and are getting ready to purchase again. Codes come out several times a year usually when rooms aren't filling up and they want to fill them. So far this year there have already been two so you will have lots of chances I am sure. As for the free dining, the answer is no because you must purchase a package that includes park tickets. What we are planning on doing in Sept. is to buy one day tickets with our room ressie (can't be on an AP rate though) to get the free dining. The free food more than makes up for the cost of the one day tickets, which my daughter is going to use because she is not an AP holder. As AP members we can purchase a dining card for $65 that gives you 20% off dining at most sit down full service restraunts for a year (including character meals!) so if you eat out often and have several members in your family it quickly pays for itself and then some.
