NEW Animal Kingdom Show | Jungle Book - Alive with Magic

I can only say read the reviews. I know there's one glowing review, but the majority are negative. I think it depends on what you want. I know we won't bother. Our kids want to be able to actually really see the animals near and far, with the full details etc. I've also heard the sound effects are pretty lame and the sunset is bad. I can forgive the sunset, but I don't want to be annoyed by sound effects the whole time.

I heard sound effects twice. But only because the guide pointed them out and over exaggerated, "Oh, I think that was a lion!" Otherwise, it's just like the atmosphere sounds around the tree of
life.

Wow, Disney is really NOT stepping up to the plate with the night time offerings in AK. Glad we only planned on going once in August during our 10 day trip.

I know the Zika virus hasn't come to Florida yet, but when it does, I am not sure if I will be thrilled about night time activities.

I sprayed off on me and ds both nights we were there. Didn't get a single bite. Tonight I went to pick him up after rehearsal and I got bit 4 different times. Mosquitoes love me.

If it gets to Florida it will be everywhere not just AK. The resorts will probably be a bigger issue with all the water spots around them in the canals and such. Hopefully Disney does some extra spraying but guests need to be proactive with protection.

We haven't even seen the Jungle Book movie yet. Is it any good? I was thinking about us going to see it. Tomorrow is the last day it is showing at our theater.

Not to belittle your concerns, but the media has always loved to hype viruses for sensationalism so that it can create an hysteria to attract viewership. From the "Spanish Flu" hype at the turn of the 20th century, the "Swine Flu", "SARS" and the recent "Ebola" media lie, the same can be said of "Zika." This is not to ignore the problem; it means to take reasonable cautions but hardly the warrant of changing our lives to worry about something that is not a major concern. I'd be more concerned about what the JK show does to the person who sits through this boring rushed attempt to draw people into a park. Talk about creating a mass hysteria, Disney has sure done a fine job of doing that to this less than average event.

We thought it was really well done, the kids enjoyed it, but they both said they liked the cartoon one better.

I'm even more cynical. Think Wag the Dog... the media hype these viruses get have motivation behind them from pharma.

The other negative, the safari ................ you know, I love animals, love seeing them on the safari, but my gut reaction is LEAVE THE ANIMALS ALONE, GIVE THEM SOME PEACE AND QUIET! Why do we need to stare at them at night too. I get the lions are more awake but do we really need to do this to them? Fake sunsets, night lighting, spot lights .... they are messing with their body clocks. Leave them be.

I wouldn't get too excited. From the reviews I've read, you actually see very little. The animals are there, but because of the lighting, they're basically just blobs. And that the "sunset" is very fake looking.

Aww, I was really bummed to read all of these reviews. DH is so excited for the nighttime stuff, especially the safari. I guess I had in my head it would be nocturnal animals out for the night safari... also sad to hear that the sunset is less than amazing. Sounds like a lot of this stuff was thrown together quickly and it shows - c'mon Disney!

YES! We were big fans, the original is one of my favorite movies and we loved the nods back to it! Bagheera was our favorite!

With so many people visiting AK at night, I'm wondering how this is affecting wait times on rides. In my Touring Plans TP, it doesn't seem to be having the effect I thought it would. Wait times are short!

As long as JB is happening, that's 5000 people twice a night taken out of ride queues and pathways.

I for one am so shocked to hear of the bad reviews for JB show. We are still going with a reserved dining package for September. I am not going to let the opinions of others deter my opinion until I see it for myself for sure. I watched part of the video, and I thought it looks terrific with the dancers and music and drummers! I actually am quite excited to see it!

It is not great and it is not awful.

It is a 40 day start to finish production.

It is what it is.

I enjoyed it and will go back and both shows I attended had great audience response.:)

Not to derail the thread, but about Zika and WDW...

For most people, Zika isn't a big concern since the symptoms aren't all that severe, but I can see this being a HUGE concern for WDW, considering it's catering to young families. All those women who are, or might become pregnant, not to mention all the men who can transmit the disease to the same women...

Zika fears could cause major issues IMO. I know that if my wife were pregnant, or we were trying to have more kids, and Zika outbroke in the Orlando area, we wouldn't go to WDW. I wouldn't want the risk of a child with microcephaly.

The animal noises in the bush at night are incredibly loud. Animals including lions constantly fear for their life, from attacks by other animals/lions, etc. Animals in the wild do not sleep at all at night. If Disney keeps them up at night, they'll just sleep during the day, like most other wild animals. And when they do sleep in the wild, it's always with one eye open.

hey guys just a quick question, I'm kinda confused...
this new show isn't the official Rivers of Light, right? What happened to that?

I wonder ... if in today's world .. with the ease of taking and sharing videos, that Disney (and other places with shows like this) really needs to up their game for their shows.

With a lot of people able to easily check it out in pretty high quality videos online and going "meh" .. won't this doom the show before it barely begins?

I am sure there are probably still thousands of people that will be oblivious of reviews and check it out anyway, but still, you'd think that all these videos of the entire show will either make people go "I'll check that our live" .. or "Wow .. that looks boring" and avoid it altogether.
