NEW Animal Kingdom Show | Jungle Book - Alive with Magic

So disappointed in the majority of nighttime offerings. This show was a boring mess as was the night safari.

I was really excited about doing that next year. But we definitely won't be now. My son is too in love with animals, he'd be so disappointed in that. He wants to be able to actually see them.

Sigh.. I appreciate the nightime reviews even if they are a let down. At least now I can save the family from disappointment.
Back to the drawing board for me. Now I'll have to switch AK to from PM to AM. UGH.

For families who like Everest, I do suggest going to AK at night even if ti's just to ride that. We did in 2014...hopped from DHS and only had about 15 mins prior to park close. We rode EE and it is an entirely different experience when it's dark outside! We had such a blast, it really was worth it to hop just to do that at night. We then took our time walking out, taking pictures around the lagoon and of the Tree of Life. Since it was November, park close was 8pm and MK was open til 11. We hopped to MK to enjoy the rest of the night.

We don't usually advocate hopping that much (3 parks in 1 day!), but we had a really great time that night.

Like I said I've done AK at night years ago and LOVED it because it is so different than in the day. Sadly this show and the indefinite delay of RoL ..... have been a huge blow to the excitement. But all reports are the tree awakening is just stunning, and I am excited about street parties but seems no one is really talking about how they are going. And I LOVE Everest at night.

The other negative, the safari ................ you know, I love animals, love seeing them on the safari, but my gut reaction is LEAVE THE ANIMALS ALONE, GIVE THEM SOME PEACE AND QUIET! Why do we need to stare at them at night too. I get the lions are more awake but do we really need to do this to them? Fake sunsets, night lighting, spot lights .... they are messing with their body clocks. Leave them be.

Once Avartarland opens I think it will bring the extra activity needed to provide enough attractions after animal areas, FOLK and Nemo are done for the day .... until then poor AK - love that park, many don't and Disney just keeps giving more reason for folks to talk negative about it. STOP spreading yourself thin and throwing good money after bad. Take a chill and make a good plan 'cause 2016 is turning in to one disaster after another.

Thanks to everyone who wrote their reviews here and on other threads. Now I can skip nighttime DAK in peace on our upcoming summer trip. :)

Which is fine because the weather is awful anyway, so we'll save seeing the park at night for a cooler-weather trip.

Aww I thought it was a good show! Everybody clapped and got into the music, and it had you bouncing along humming Bare Necessities as you exited, lol. I thought the audience seemed to like it. It also gave you a good review of the movie and made me want to go see the movie (of course, synergy, never underestimate Disney marketing). I liked the fire dancers on barges.

I thought it was a really good show. I'd rank it up there with FOTLK and Nemo, but not up there with Wishes, F! or SW fireworks. We had great seats. Great view of the singers, dancers and screen. We saw it Saturday. Planned to go back last night, but it didn't work out. We have FP+ for tonight's late show, along with an earlier safari. I'm excited to go back and see it again sitting in a different section to see if that makes a difference or not.

I so agree about the animals and the nighttime safari. I'm all for AK having a nighttime scene with Avatarland, the Tree awakening thing, ROL, and the street parties, but let the critters go back to their behind-the-scenes habitats. Let them be daytime attractions. With all of the fireworks popping off around the property, I'm sure most of them do feel better retreating to somewhere quieter, especially after a long day of entertaining guests by being gawked at and coerced into being "on stage" as it were. Not that they have it bad at all, day or night, I think AK does a fabulous job caring for them, but nighttime at the park can be about something besides the animals. At least those on the safari.

I'd read on here a rumor that the new Star Wars spectacular was going to actually tone down the fireworks a bit because of the AK animals being "on stage" at night now? Just another good reason to let them go backstage...and let those fireworks stay as amazing as they are now!

I hope they don't tone down SW, I love it. But the new launch pad is outside the park on other side of World Dr so it will appear to be different, maybe smaller since not right on top of everyone, so maybe that is where that came from. At that distance the animals can get used to it ... but they don't need to be out day and night.

Great thread, especially since I've done "relatively" little research into the new AK nighttime attractions. I must say that I was initially surprised with the idea of a nighttime safari. My first (or second) thought was about the animals, and in wondering how the folks at Disney found a solution to the non-disruption aspect of the animals' nighttime routines and habitat in general (a habitat that is supposed to mimic their true habitat...ok ok, it is a zoo after all, but you get what I'm implying.)

My second (first?) thought was wow! how cool will it be to see all those beautiful animals awake and full of nighttime energy!?! I honestly am looking so forward to it! (As much as riding Everest in the dark!)

The nighttime safari is for the spectator, after all, not for the animals and my hope is that if it poses a problem for them, it is rectified. Time will tell, I guess...not that a problem exists, but that the problem is noticed.

Did you attend the Harambe Parti? I've heard very little about it. Maybe it hasn't started yet??? I think this would be a welcomed nighttime festivity at AK.

I wouldn't get too excited. From the reviews I've read, you actually see very little. The animals are there, but because of the lighting, they're basically just blobs. And that the "sunset" is very fake looking.

I haven't asked anyone directly, but the buzz I was hearing while at AK on

We saw a ton of animals. Could make out great, but impossible to photograph properly without flash.

The sunset is pitiful.

I'm at AK again tonight.

Oh! Are you Parti-ing?!party:

I just watched two videos on YouTube. One of the Harambe Wildlife Parti and one of Carnivale at Discovery Island. They look fun!

How is the Tree of Life Nighttime Awakenings? Entertaining? How long? Trying to make a touring plan for all these new AK to-dos.

I so agree. I did the nighttime safari on Friday and it was so poor. The lighting was terrible. The sound effects ridiculous. I had the same feeling - why are they putting the animals through this?! It's just not worth it for anyone, CM's, guests and animals. It was just so poorly done.

The sunset is pitiful.

The sunset was simply awful. So fake looking, so bright. A true disaster and not up to Disney standards at all. I wouldn't be surprised if they eliminated it. In fact, I kind of hope the sunset safari is eliminated, perhaps after Avatarland opens.

AK at night doesn't have to be a bust. We really enjoyed Nomad Lounge, the food at Tiffin's was very good and we really enjoyed some of the new performances (especially acrobats). The Tree of Life looked amazing. I would just never do the safari or JB ever again.

Tree of Life awakening is AWEsome!!

There are many reports on the Official Animal Kingdom thread!

Once if gets more of a sunset, we're heading on safari.

Then FP for the last JB.
