NEW Animal Kingdom Show | Jungle Book - Alive with Magic

hey guys just a quick question, I'm kinda confused...
this new show isn't the official Rivers of Light, right? What happened to that?

Dead in the water ..... kinda literally. They "claim" the GPS and some switches don't work. It can run through once but can't reset to run again .............. so it sits there??? waiting for a tow. Rumors are all over the place from July to September to December to indefinitely ..... according to poster who says they are in the know the actors have left to pursue other jobs so .............. for now it's band aid shows for everyone.

We were at AK Sunday night, did the safari and liked it, saw plenty of animals up close and they were quite visible. The "sunset" was very fake looking, but I didn't find it intrusively bright. JB was a disappointment, had an empty barge sitting directly in front of us, with all three singers on the middle barge, they could at least put one singer on each barge to give the audience a chance to see at least one of them perform. I didn't even realize the singing was live until the end of the show. I found the middle water screen to be unclear, so had to look at all three to determine what was being shown. That said, the singers were great, the dancers did a great job and I am glad I went. I wouldn't go again though. I was really bummed about not seeing the Tree of Life Awaken, it was listed as random but I spent way too much time staring at it and waiting for something to happen only to be disappointed.

Wow I didn't know it was that serious! :O
I've heard some rumours about some delay and technical problems but not that bad. This is sad, I was really excited for that show, and for now I'm only getting bad reviews for the TJB one :(

How does one make sure they are able to see the tree of life light up? I know a lot have said they did not get to see it.

Is anyone else wondering when ROL might possibly be up and running? I have a JB dining pkg for Sept. The fact that they made these available for me in Sept.... does that mean there is NO WAY that ROL will be showing then? Or might they get it going and allow us to convert our JB pkg to a ROL dining pkg?
I know no one knows the answer to this for sure, just picking the brains of others here.

.....the media has always loved to hype viruses for sensationalism so that it can create an hysteria to attract viewership. From the "Spanish Flu" hype at the turn of the 20th century, the "Swine Flu", "SARS" and the recent "Ebola" media lie, the same can be said of "Zika." This is not to ignore the problem; it means to take reasonable cautions but hardly the warrant of changing our lives to worry about something that is not a major concern. I'd be more concerned about what the JK show does to the person who sits through this boring rushed attempt to draw people into a park. Talk about creating a mass hysteria, Disney has sure done a fine job of doing that to this less than average event.
I am in total agreement with the media hype and sensationalism thing. My 74 yr old mom watches Fox News day and night and I am constantly "talking her off the ledge" of hysteria over whatever is the latest and greatest news story but....
I don't think the Spanish Flu was "hype". Before she died at almost 105 years of age, I spoke at length with my DH's grandmom who lived through that time period in Philadelphia. Hearing about it from a real-life account is very different from reading about it. It was very real and very few who lived then were left untouched in one way or another. Estimates of between 30-50 million people died worldwide. It's in a whole different category from Swine Flu, Bird Flu, SARS, Ebola and Zika, which I believe, as you do, are fodder for media hype.

As long as JB is happening, that's 5000 people twice a night taken out of ride queues and pathways.

Yay for me then! We'll be spending two evenings at AK this August for sure, one to see JB and one to ride the rides at nauseum! Gonna be interesting, because I love, love, love AK in the morning.

Hey, FYI...check out the wait times that Josh from EasyWDW posted, from May 27th. Apparently JB was supposed to open on the 28th but Disney did a soft opening the night before.

If you have 15 minutes to read the whole post, he even discusses the impact JB might have on Everest at night. It seems to be a play-it-by-ear kinda thing for Disney right now.

Oh really, randomly? That's a bummer. Anyone know how often between awakenings?

We saw the Jungle Book Program tonight. I give full credit to the cast members who were dancing. They gave it their all. For the rest, it was a bit lack luster. If you've seen World of Color, this is just a pale comparison. I've not seen the most recent Jungle Book movie, but I think if they had used the original cartoon version, I might have liked it better. I hope Rivers of Light will eventually replace it with expectations of it being better. I enjoyed the projection on the Tree of Life far better.

Is the JB show still worth a FP (and the loss of being able to get more FPs with the show being just about at the end of the day)? What's the standby wait time for both showings like?

If you stand in line, that's about all you'll do at night. The line for the second show is full before the first show even starts.....

The late showing has never filled the theater. I'd probably walk in around 10.

I was at the late show on Wednesday, June 1st. The two outer sections were completely empty. The next two sections were about 60% full. If I had known that would happen, I wouldn't have spent 45 minutes waiting in line/waiting in the seats.

Great news!! Sorry writerguyfl, not that you waited so long.
