Oh well. All my vacation time requests for December were turned down today. No luck going for the holidays. :(

I "WAS" approved for 3 days in January. Pile those 3 onto a weekend and we have a nice 5 day trip I guess. Wondering if we want then or early Feb?

Input anyone?

Hey Fred~
that's too bad about December... can you put in for NEXT December perhaps??
At least you were able to get some time off in Jan/Feb to have a mini-vacation... and you don't have to worry about school for Julia... but if this winter is anything like last winter, you'd better plan an extra travel day!!

Fred:

I was in WDW the first week of January (2000) for the Millenium Celebration. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. I know the weather can be a bit changeable during Dec/Jan/Feb. But, Ive been both Jan & Feb and the weather is great. 70's to low 80;s and low crowds. Sounds real tempting doesnt it.

Last December we were wearing sweatshirts on a couple of days, then it went real nice. Ya never know in Central Fla during winter time.

I sure hope we dont have a winter like the last (NYC) If you remember, we had snow around Thanksgiving and we had a huge snowstorm the day before I left for WDW in early Dec.

I left for WDW the day before Thanksgiving in that snowstorm!! we left only an hour late, not bad, had to go back to the gate a couple of times and be de-iced....
this year going on our cruise, I'm not taking ANY chances, we're flying down the day before!
You never know what the weather is going to be like, but hey we'd be in DISNEY WORLD, so it'll be fine no matter what!!!

I see there are so many of us going to the WL in the next 2 weeks. Does everyone know there is a meet on 10/19 before the 8 :00pm parade ?

It will be fun .
I cant wait to go , BTW THANKS to everyone for the help with pickeing a room and checking into upgrades .

Wishing you all a Tagged night

Sorry to break the new to you, but the Farmers Almanac is predicting another nasty winter for us East Coasters! They said it was going to get cold early (which it DID). And that from about Feb - April, it's going to be one "non-stop" snow storm.

Bbbuuurrrrrr!!!! Sure wish I could move down south for those months!!

Fred, sorry about your Dec trip...it's so pretty at that time of year....maybe plan for next year....I think I would pick Feb over Jan just because typically Jan is a little cooler than Feb...have fun figuring it out!!

Annamonte....glad to have you back and can't wait to hear all about it in the trip reports!!

Mad4Mickey....getting close to "D" day...excited for you....I hope you and yours have a fabulous time with great weather and low crowds!!

::MickeyMo

MAGICinMYHEART....congrats on your new ressie!!!:D

Welcome back, g;ad you enjoyed the Lodge and had a great time..

annamonte! (psssst ~ don't look know, but you've just been TAGGED!)

In fact, several of our "faithful" now have the distinction of "WL VET"!! Congrats to all :hyper: !

Kimberle, I didn't think many people still read the Farmer's Almanac anymore. Funny how accurate that thing really is. Another old tale is that it will snow one day in January for everyday that was foggy in August. If that is the case, then down this way we will have just about a whole month of snow in January. Yippee, bring on the snow!! (Ican always head further south)

Kimmar...thanks again...I love my tag!!!:Pinkbounc

Ratpack...I really hope that isn't true about the fog/snow thing.....we too would have snow just about everyday as well!!:(

I want to go back to FLORIDA at the very thought of snow!!

Ratpack
I may live in the "wicked city", but I'll always be a "little 'ole midwestern farmers daughter"......

OK with the "fog thing" for me! We barely got any!!!! *LOL*

Both sides of my family were IL Farmers and nothing got done until the FA said to do it.

I planned my fishing trips north for years by it.

Good Evening All!

I was reading all the FA info, and I'll tell you I've been hearing the same thing. That and the "wooly caterpillar" (sp?) story too. I saw one the other day that was so furry, with a stripe down its back, which is supposed to indicate..........cold? snow? long winter? I've heard it all but I don't know which it is. Last year we left for DisneyWorld the day after Thanksgiving, and returned 8 days later to two feet of snow at the airport! Yes, we had to shovel the car out at the airport, after arriving many hours late due to the storm. We spent a LOT of time sitting in the airport in FL, and I wished I could have just turned around and went right back to the lodge!:sunny:
I sure hope it's done snowing up north here by April!!!!!

Hey! I just noticed I'm under 200 days now! Woo Hoo!

I hate to ask this question since I know it's already been answered several times. But..............since we can't search anymore I really need some help.

I had read in the past that you can ship a box to the resort about a week ahead of time. I need to know if this is right, if it's a good idea and about how much it has cost other people. I know that the cost will be depending on the weight but I just need to get a ballpark figure.

Can anyone help, please. Really looking forward to being at the Wilderness Lodge in 8 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!

We returned from our trip to WL this past Sunday. I FedExed a box which contained baby diapers, baby wipes, some snacks, and Halloween stuff since we were attending MNSSHP. I addressed the box to the hotel and put, in large letters, to hold for me, my ressie number and my arrival date. Once we checked into the hotel, DH went back down to the desk and they had the package there. I chose FedEx so I could track the package (it only took three days to get there) and so a signature was required for delivery (so I could track down who accepted my package if it was lost once I arrived). I can't remember exactly how much it cost, but I chose the least expensive route for FedEx (FedEx ground) and it cost around $5.00.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Just had to drop a quick line about what a great time we are having down here and to share a great line my daughters have been repeating over and over since we got here. They are 7 and 5 respectively. Every time we experience something magical, (ie The Fireworks and view of the Castle from our balcony, the Geyser, etc.) they say "Daddy, this isn't a Dream Hotel, this is a Dream Come True Hotel!" :sunny: Wow, I had to share this. I thought you would all get a kick out of it.

The weather's been great, and the Lodge is everything you all said it was. Only one full day left. Will post full reports upon return.

Out of the mouths of babes!! Your daughters should be in the next commercial/promotion Disney does... you really should suggest it be their next advertisement!!!

Hi everyone :wave2: I seem to remember someone saying we should fax in a room request before we leave . I even remember that they posted a sample letter but I cant remember how many days before we leave to fax it . Who to fax it to ? or The # to fax it to .

I swear this trip is getting closer and I'm no where ready !

Any Help would be great
Wishing you all a Tagged night
