Just wondering about the exterior of the lodge. There were some reports a few weeks ago (from Ratpack, maybe?) about scaffolding on the exterior. Still there? Thanks for the great trip reports!

I cant remember if I have asked this here before, but here goes it . I have asked and gotten info about where to stay on the 7th floor to see the fireworks. I need rooms on other floors since I have been told we just cant get the Conceirges. We have a special needs child traveling with us and he needs to be in the room getting meds in the evenings . Any help would be great

TIA
Wishing everyone a tagged night

We were in room 5012 and it has a great view of the fireworks. There are bunkbeds in this room. My SIL and BIL were next door in room 5014 with 2 queen beds and they also had a great view of the fireworks.

Just faxed in my room assignment.

I'm so excited I could scream.

Whew - I feel better now, had to just get that out.

We just returned last night from WL. It was a very nice resort. We originally had a 5 night reservation but extended it 2 more nights after making sure there were rooms available at the rate we had already booked. We booked a std. room and were upgraded to courtyard view of the quiet pool and villas. We had requested a view of the castle but they said it wasn't available. After the 3rd night, we had 2 rooms because my husband joined us. They did give us connecting rooms which was very nice. We only had a couple of problems. The first was that they overcharged me at check-in by $280 and I didn't realize it until the next day. They did correct the problem. My father took my 2 yr. old dd down the slide and the lifeguard yelled at him that only one person could go down at a time. When I explained that we had gone down with her last year at Port Orleans and asked why we couldn't do the same at WL, she explained that the slide at WL was designed in such a way that when an adult goes down with a child, the adult can push the child under the water and snap the child's neck. Why in the world Disney would design such a slide at a family resort is beyond me. They should at least provide a slide small children can go down. That was probably my biggest disappointment since my dd didn't understand why her papa couldn't take her on the slide and she was too small to go by herself. Also, the buses to DTD were somewhat slow but the rest were okay. At the parks and at the resort, the mosquitos bit me pretty bad so take bugspray with you if you're going anytime soon. I'll try to post a report on the trips report board soon.

we will be staying at the lodge for the very first time , and I hear alot about noisy rooms... any suggestions for quiet concierge rooms with views of MK, and with bunkbeds. my two kids DS5, and DD4, are very light sleepers!!!

Any other info would be much appreciated...

Thanks

PM Majestic as he is there now in concierge and has his lap top with him.

Hey WL vets....

I have a quick question for you guys! :D

We are taking my kids (6 yr old DS and 3 yr old DD!) to Disney for the first time in a couple of weeks! Actually, it's my first time at WL too!

Anyway, I was wondering, would the CMs do anything special for the kids like leave something in the room for them as a memento for their first WDW visit?

Thanks!

If you want something waiting for your kids in the room when you arrive you should probably arrange it yourself. I know that there are things generally waiting in a concierge room, but if you are not in concierge there will most likely not be anything waiting for you.

My best friend is going to have a Pal Mickey waiting in the room for her boys when they check in to the BWI in a couple of weeks. She has arranged this herself, but her boys don't have to know that she did it. They will just think that Disney Magic is at work.

Okay, I need to fax in my room request on Thursday. We have a standard room booked and we will be checking in sometime after 7pm on Saturday.

Which standard rooms are best? Is being over the lobby a good or bad thing? Part of me thinks we'd love being over the lobby, but then I worry about the noise. If I do request a lobby room should I request the WCC side or the check-in desk side?

I've heard upgrades to courtyard have been happening quite frequently lately. Do I have a better chance of an upgrade if I don't make a request at all? Or is it better to request?

Opinions please......

What an informative (and long) thread. It's much appreciated for our upcoming trip.

My question is: Are there rooms that are just not acceptable? We have a Woods View booked for 10/24 - 11/1 and it will be our first stay at WL.

From all the great info here, I know to fax in a request to the room assigner and will be requesting a nonsmoking room in the north wing as we'd love to view the otter pond. Since I've no idea what rooms are good and what are bad, any room they say at check in will sound fine to me.

Does my question make sense? Can you guys help me?

Thanks

We were in room #5012 last time which is a great wood's view room with bunkbeds. It has a view of the fireworks and connects to room #5014 which has 2 queen beds and also has a fireworks view. I don't remember being able to see the otter pond, but I didn't know about it then. So, I wasn't really looking for it.

Sandi - I will be going in two days - Yipee!!!! I have a woods room and requested a 5th floor non-smoking room overlooking the otter pond (preferrably either 5012 or 5014) based on recommendations I read on this thread. I will let you know how it works out when we get back.

I'm also curious about thoses recent upgrades to courtyard. It would be great if any of us could get them. I'm just happy it's almost here. It looks like we lucked out on the weather. Isabel isn't going to bother us a bit!!!

loubelou.... Thanks for info!

Who should I contact for ordering stuff?

Thanks,
Anna

PS: 4 more days until you leave! How exciting! :bounce:

Oh, rugratsmom66... you have only 2 days! Yippee for you! I can't even imagine how siked you are! I am barely sleeping at night thinking about my trip!!! :D

I'm not able to sleep very well. Keep waking up thinking about all the things I might forget to pack. But then remind myself that all I need is to remember to take are DS and DH and everything else is a bonus - ":teeth: As DH says "There are stores in Disney

annamonte - Since I've never had anything left in my room I'm not sure who to contact, but I know it can be done. You should start a new thread on the resorts board and I'm sure you will get many answers from those who have done this before.

rugratsmom - I'm thrilled that we no longer have to worry about Isabel. We have a connecting flight in Charlotte on Saturday, but it looks as if Isabel will be hitting Thursday afternoon. So, I'm no longer worried about flying into Charlotte either. I've read about so many people being upgraded to courtyard lately that I'm wondering what's up and it gives me a little hope that we could be upgraded too. I won't be expecting an upgrade though. I'll just be glad to finally be back at the lodge!

rugratsmom: I'll eagerly wait for your report. Have a great trip.

I have to give a special thank you to this board, because everything was right on! The lodge is awesome! At checkin they couldn't give us a king, woodsview, smoking, but were given courtyard view, 6031, right by elevators, with two beds.

There were no crowds until the last two days. No rain, sunny skys, and a few stressed out parents.

I promise to write my trip report before the end of the week. I looked for Fred, but never spotted him, or any other DIS members. (I did wear my green Mickey!)

We did cirque, Hoop Dee Doo, and had great meals, (esp. loved the Brown Derby!) and only one poor experience with Bongos!

Thanks again, to everyone to helped make our trip so great!
