OK, Al gave a really good run down today of what will be happening with World of Color in the coming weeks. You will want to read the full article here http://miceage.micechat.com/allutz/al060110a.htm

Here are some highlights:

o On June 11 World of Color parking lot overnighters will be allowed into DCA at 8AM to form a line for WOC FPs
o DLR hotel guests can use the GCH special entrance to get in line for FPs and may be allowed to get to the FPs before the overnighters
o FPs will be issued for both the 9PM and 10:15PM show
o Only 2000 FPs will be issued per shows
o Only 4000 viewers per show allowed
o 2000 spots will be reserved for dining package reserved spots
o DCA is planning to be open until 11PM although the announced closing time is 10PM.
o A third WOC show is planned for 11:30PM. No FPs
o Disney is trying to avoid embarassment should WOC not be as a popular as they hope and an 11:30PM show is somehow empty. This is very interesting based on DCA's past disappointments. Disney is hedging their bets.
o FPs should be all gone by 10AM normal opening and then GRR FPs will begin
o Guests will line up for WOC in Hollywood Pictures Backlot
o Glow Fest (no longer called Festival of Color) will entertain guests waiting for WOC at HBP
o Carnivale of Color will entertain guests waiting for WOC at Paradise Pier for the show to begin.
o A small upgrade for Indy ride this week
o Little Mermaid and Goofy Sky Skool (Mulholland Madness re-theme) to open early June 2011
o More info on Aladdin show extension and Toy Story musical delay
o Halloween ticket events moved to DL

ETA:

Note that AL Lutz does not work for Disney. His posts are not Disney announcements. He has good contacts inside Disney and is helpful in giving an indication of what Disney is planning.

Here is the disclaimer that Al has at the end of his article.

Keep in mind updates only get posted when there is something to report on, and not before. It takes time to confirm things, and even then we can only offer a snapshot of a continually evolving story. (People do change their minds you know.) Just like the happiest place on earth, patience is a virtue; the queue may take a while before you can enjoy the attraction.

Wow so it went from a capacity of 9000 to 6000 and now to 4000 per show? Or is it 4000 plus the 2000 from the restaurant packages? I am reading it as 4000 total.

I really cannot wait to see the show but am very glad that there will be 6 weeks of practice before we get there!

Again, thank you for all the updates. It is much appreciated by this DLR newbie!

I had the same confusion. So I re-read it before posting. Al says 4000 total. 2000 FPs and 2000 reserved. Very strange. :confused3

I am so glad we are waiting until August to go. I hope that gives them enough time to work these things out. I'm glad they won't try to squish in more people than the park can hold, but boy, what a big difference in numbers! At that rate, they should have no problem filling up 3 shows. I've been looking at pictures of Paradise Park and there are a few benches in there. I can't help but wonder what will keep people from standing on the benches? :confused3

I didn't know the Toy Story show was put on hold for a few more years. I love the Aladdin show but was looking forward to TS too. But I can wait if it means making that building look nicer outside.

So no general admission, just FP or dining. I'm a little surprised about that.

So if you eat at Ariel's Grotto, you won't be watching from there?

I wonder what, if anything, will prevent you from watching the show from around the viewing area. Unless the walkways are being used for traffic, I think there would be plenty of other area in which to view the show from.

So with CM viewings on the 6th and 7th (?) and the radio station preview the 8th, do you think soft openings will still occur?

extreme exhaustion?

:rotfl: Ok, excluding that. I meant once the show starts, if they sit on a bench they won't be able to see. If they stand on it, they will be above the crowd, blocking the view of people behind them.

It looks like Al is calling for a boo-cott umm boycott of MHP.Lol

A poster on Around Disney blog had a good point regarding fireworks being cancelled periodically due to upper level conditions. It would stink to buy MHP
tickets just to get to see fireworks and have them cancelled with no
other chance to catch them because of a ticketed event. :( Does not sound like this one is to well thought out, guests are going to be upset. Me included if that happens :(

So confused by WOC but I do not think I am alone. :confused3

Does anyone know anything about wheelchair viewing area? I assume they will only be able to accommodate a certain number per show.

I'm really glad we reserved premium seating now. There's no way I want to be there June 11-17 doing a mad dash to GRR in the probably hopeless chase for FP's. It sounds from his article as though if you don't have a car to camp out all night, or you're not staying in one of the DLR hotels, you probably won't get a FP for the 11th at all. So, that's a real stress for all the vacationers in the good neighbor hotels.

Not sure how the standing area went from 9,000 to 6,000 and then to 4,000. Now, that's really weird.

Oh, and the dinner seating is not to watch at SCT or AG. The meals are earlier, and then they'll hand us our tickets for World of Chaos.

I agree, even though we will be going to a MHP I dont agree that fireworks should only be shown at that time. It isn't going to make me not buy a ticket because they aren't exclusive. I'm going because it's finally back at DL where it should be and it will be more fun...better rides, more disney feel etc. I am not going just to see the fireworks. If anything it's a draw back to me because they are so exclusive to those nights I bet people will be waiting even longer for them now...which wastes most of your MHP night, which is not worth it to me. Anyway, hope they decide to show them nightly like last year...they are great and more people deserve to view them :)

Oh and there is NO way we're getting up super early anytime soon just for a WOC FP! I will do the dining package when they get it all figured out.

Does the article mention any reserved seatings for villas guest by any chance? Or is that lumped with all the resort hotel guests FP?
I read it and couldn't find any info.

I called the GCH this morning and they said, at this time, they won't be giving any FP to hotel and villa guests.

...sigh... :sad1:
I guess let's just hope for theme park view room then.
So much for the rumor of villas reserve spot.
Thanks for the info!

Camp out all night?
DLR is notorious for campers. If I remember right, when they opened the Nemo Sub ride in 2007 they had campers line up in the Esplanade starting four days before the opening. In this case the June 11 is blocked for SoCal AP holders, but you may see DAPs camping. Expect lots of campers on the night of Sat June 11 for Sun June 12 which is not blocked.

Besides having some very dedicated fans, DLR also benefits from the monstrous base of AP holders who live nearby. Many are young and single and see the whole camping experience as a social event. They can get their FPs the next morning after camping and then leave for the day if they so choose because they live so near.
