New Al Lutz: WoC FPs, Dining Ressies, Glow Fest, Three Shows...

...I can't help but wonder what will keep people from standing on the benches? :confused3
Cast members. And maybe they'll move the benches like at fireworks.

I didn't know the Toy Story show was put on hold for a few more years. I love the Aladdin show but was looking forward to TS too. But I can wait if it means making that building look nicer outside.
Disney announced this a few weeks ago. :goodvibes

So no general admission, just FP or dining. I'm a little surprised about that.
I am a bit skeptical about this information from Al as something seems missing. I thought at one point there was the reserved viewing area (FPs) and then a general viewing area (with no FPs), but he doesn't mention that segment at all anymore. :confused3 If this is correct, what I GIANT slap in the face to locals who are at work when the FP machines turn on. That would make it literally impossible for those who frequent the Park regularly and provide DLR with it's "bread & butter" customer-based to see WoC (unless they choose to buy a dinner package, of course). What happened to the general viewing area (no FPs required? Or did I dream that?) I think Al may have missed the "non-reserved" area - which would account for the "missing" numbers.

So if you eat at Ariel's Grotto, you won't be watching from there?
Correct. No one will watch the show from AG or WCT. You get a show ticket when you pay for your meal and then head over to the show area. The show cannot be viewed from either restaurant location.

I'm really glad we reserved premium seating now....So, that's a real stress for all the vacationers in the good neighbor hotels.
And, if he's accurate, an impossibility for anyone who lives locally with a job. Andd just a point of clarification to make sure you are aware, there is no "premium seating," just premium standing. :goodvibes

I had the same confusion. So I re-read it before posting. Al says 4000 total. 2000 FPs and 2000 reserved. Very strange. :confused3

but it never said anything about the non-reserved spots... *hint hint* :)

All-night parking. Lining up for a FP begining at 8 in the morning for a show that night.

I can honestly say I'm glad I won't be there! :lmao:

Does the article mention any reserved seatings for villas guest by any chance? Or is that lumped with all the resort hotel guests FP?
I read it and couldn't find any info.

Nope, the article didn't mention any of that, only that resort hotel guests will be able to line up and head to the GRR FP machine. It sounds like they don't know if hotel guests and those from the parking lot will go at the same time to the FP, or what.

As I said, and another poster further mentioned, it sounds like any working AP holders and any good neighbor hotel guests are the losing bunch in this situation. RME

I am so very thankful I went for the reserved "seating" with the AG dinner. I just happened to pick the first week of WoC as our vacation with minimal knowledge of the impact or the premiere event.

I know I am spending a pretty penny for dinner/tickets but now I can just skip the entire FP/SP/Grizzly/GCH/DAP/UnwashedCamper fiasco.

Thanks to all that have posted this information here. :cool1:

LOL! Techguy, as someone in the same boat who was less than thrilled to discover our trip was opening week, I couldn't agree more! It's worth it for me to pay for the premium WOC dining just to avoid that even more confusing mess at the FP machine.

Why would any good neighbor guests not be able to line up same as the parking lot folks? As I'm reading, it seems that the working AP holders (and I am one of THOSE people although mine is the premium) are the folks who will not be able to get to see WOC early on. I have mixed feelings, but I think I'll take the same tactic as when F! opened...wait until the dust settles and then decided whether to do FP or dining package. i was told that there is a WOC picnic package, has anyone seen, read or heard of any details? I was planning to spend Saturday at the parks, but the talk of camping out and lining up before the park opens...maybe not.

Heck, we JUST saw the new F! dragon last Saturday with my brother's family.

So considering the part about seemingly random FPs, do dining packages get better seating? Going with Toocherie and my friend John later this month and we're doing the AG package...

They can, but they will have to get in line behind those who camped out overnight. Maybe get up at 6AM to get in line? But who wants to spend their time doing that?

If Albort's hints are correct - and I suspect they are - then there will be some non-reserved standing areas.

My best guess is there will be 2000 FP spots, 2000 dining package spots, and 2000 first-come first served spots.

Nope. Most of the dining info is in the World of Color Superthread but no mention of the picnic package yet.

I just want to point out that Disney itself has said that the viewing area is for 9k or 6k. Why did they adjust the number? Who knows, maybe so people aren't packed as tight, maybe so some can sit. But I do know that Disney knows how many people can fit in a given space. It's a calculation they have done over and over. They said 9k when it was being built and well into the building. Nothing changed about the design after that.

Bottom line is there will be room for 9k wether they intend to use it or not. Don't be surpised when there is ticketed viewing for 4K and lots of people in general viewing.

I think it's REALLY important for people to understand that this information is from Al Lutz, NOT Disney. Al is reporting information that he has from various sources and that this is NOT official Disney information regarding how WoC logistics will be handled. This is not mentioned on the first post and, in my opinion, is really important to remember before basing plans around it.

I am missing the logic behind the statement that locals with jobs will never be able see WoC without a dining reservation. For opening day, I would suspect that anyone not there 8 AM will not see the show without a dining reservation. So if you have to work that day, you will be out of luck. But after that, unless you work 7 days a week/365 days a year, I would think most people could schedule a trip to DLR for an entire day so that it could include seeing WoC.

The weird thing to me is that your entire party will have to go through the turnstiles at 8 am to activate the tickets, but the park will not be open for another 2 hours! So instead of having one person from each party standing in line, most guests will stand in line with the entire party (as there is nothing else open), for what may be a 2 hour wait. -- Suzanne

I did not mean never, but initially - the first month or so. The initial "craze" will last much longer than the first day.

And my point was more that I have to believe there are going to be "non-FP" spots, for those that can't be at the Park first thing.

Yes, because if your park ticket has not been activated at the gate, FP machines cannot issue at FP for that particular park ticket.

It's so true. If Disney says something take it with a grain of salt because they do adjust thier plans. If Al Lutz says somthing take it with a spoonfull of salt. He is nothing more than a part of the media. Pick a topic in the news today and find all the variations in details that mutliple media sources will provide.

This is why seeing is believing.

Nope. Most of the dining info is in the World of Color Superthread but no mention of the picnic package yet.

A CM at Ariel's indicated their might be a picnic "basket" type of thing that would also allow you to get the FP ticket to the WoC standing area. My guess is it would be a meal to go type of thing, sort of like the F! box you get with F! preferred seating, but it is anyone's guess.

What about guests walking from off property hotels? When/where can they line up?
Well, as others would point out, this is still rumor. But if the rumor is true we still do not know where people will line up. If you are off-property then I guess you will not camp out in the line but sleep in your hotel and just come over in the morning. In which case you will line up at the DCA gates like everyone else. :)

Dreams you are quite correct. As you know, I post Al Lutz links and highlights when they come out. I have never taken the time to state in my post that Al's articles are rumor (informed rumor, but rumor nonetheless) because I have always thought that was obvious. In Al's articles he has this disclaimer:

Keep in mind updates only get posted when there is something to report on, and not before. It takes time to confirm things, and even then we can only offer a snapshot of a continually evolving story. (People do change their minds you know.) Just like the happiest place on earth, patience is a virtue; the queue may take a while before you can enjoy the attraction. ;)

Some DIS DLR non-regulars are bound to be confused. You are right.

I will change the OP now to reflect this and in the future will add a disclaimer to my summary post. Thanks for keeping all of us honest! :)
