New aerial view of hub construction/progress

Anyone know what he plans are for the center of the hub that they just tore up? And more importantly how long it will take? We're going in May and I feel like that would be more bothersome than the rest.

Stay tuned.

Are you kidding me? That's a crime against nature. Those are award winning varieties that have been there for years. If I was a Disney gardener I'd quit over that nonsense. Who hired these Imagineers? Accountants and office workers?

Well I guess something had to be done to force attendance down. Destroying a beautiful park is definitely one way of doing it.
Well they could remove them or have them run over by heavy equipment. If I were a betting man, I would say that for everyone that they pulled out there are thousands waiting to be transplanted when the project comes to an end. Not to worry!

I was going to post the same thing.
Disney's backstage horticulture division is substantial.

(Hope to see you posting more regularly, goofyernmost.)

How is this construction affecting the look of the MK for guests? Wondering if some of the magic will be missing from the Magic Kingdom during this .

It is very visible in the hub area.

"Magic" can be a very subjective thing.

Thanks Robo, Good to see that you are still a mainstay on this board.

I find it magical that they are doing all this work in the parks. I wish they have been doing it all along instead of making a huge push all at the same time, but, I'll take it. A few fences will make for a better park in the long haul.

Is that backstage area that bypasses main street open to the guests? How did I never seem to know about these paths!

Just for "overflow" situations... when they can't get people to move down Main St USA fast enough...

Yes. They only open and close it (or them... there is actually more than one) sporadically, as needed.

Huh, never knew that. I do not think I would want to take that path because it would totally ruin the Main street illusion for me. I really would hate to see cars and and parking lot behind main street and inside the Magic kingdom. I wonder if they try to divert you because of crowds if you have a choice? For example with kids?

As part of this MK Hub refurb project, the backstage areas are being redesigned to be suitable as guest areas and the "magic" will be maintained.

Just skimmed the thread but did not see it mentioned...

Last weekend, the "moat" was empty. Today, the water was back in. They must have removed some walls or something, because I could also see new landscaping in places. (Not all--I think this particular spot that I noticed was in front of Crystal Palace.)

Didn't take pics. But it looks like progress is moving along. I noticed a whole bunch if unlit light posts. Not sure if those were there before and I was just didn't notice or what. I did notice it was dark and not a single one was on.

That could be really nice if there will be more victorian buildings added in the back routes that mimic the feeling on main street. I imagine it will not be as grand but they could really do something interesting. Is there any more information on what they might be doing specifically with these routs that bypass main street?

Click HERE for about as much info as has been "announced" (which is not much.)

I'm so resistant to change, but after a while I usually settle down. It's been a while since my last trip and I don't have another one scheduled right now.

So are the metal tables with the umbrellas in front of The Plaza gone?

Thanks Robo. Although the path is not traveling behind Tonys it is going beside it and it would really nice if they could work a little glimpse through a fence of the back of tonys to look like the back door scene from Lady and the tramp. Have the table set up and a side or back view of lady and tramp with Tony at the back door. Something like that would be super cute. I have always wanted a little more Lady and the Tramp theming so that could work if they could design something along the side of Tonys.
