New aerial view of hub construction/progress

BUS stop. BUS stop.

I'm also intrigued by the two outshoots (shown as orange blobs) from the rose path. Maybe fountains, or benches? curious.

Wish they'd hurry up and finish before June is all I'm sayin' :-)

That is a part of all of this construction.

Look at the outer circular sidewalks in the "New Hub" photo of post #2 in this thread.
Those sidewalks will skirt the others in the hub (where parade-watchers stand) and allow
other guests to pass to/from the other "lands" much more easily.

ALSO, they are making more "guest-friendly/theme-friendly" the backstage route behind Main Street, so
guests can pass through without dealing with the parade-watchers standing along Main Steet.
Th new "freshening" of the backstage area will make it much nicer for guests than the current
"parking lot" that they see today. (Image below is of the "parking lot" look, before the upcoming update, currently in progress.)

Pics clipped for space.
So glad to hear the parade crowd issue will hopefully be alleviated. Last trip we got held in a spot where we could not move, leave, get anywhere, or do anything, totally at the mercy of the parade and it was miserable.:crowded: Well, WDW-misery. Not real life misery. :p

I think the original RG path is going and the dock area is already gone. This appears to me to be addressing crowd flow issues in the Hub and Main Street areas for both the parade and fireworks.

Love your name, SU. I know exactly what it refers to. :goodvibes

:sunny: Yay my first name compliment! I am a huge Twilight Zone and Tower of Terror fan so naturally, I loved Japan's version too.

I loved the way it looked before but this really should help with crowd control a lot, and for that I am grateful.

I kind of like the new design, it looks good to me. I am, of course, assuming that there will be shrubbery and trees and such that were simply left out of the renderings. I think this is a positive move. They certainly need better traffic flow during the parades, and the ability to handle more people during the fireworks.

The old dock turned picnicking area in the Rose Garden was long gone last October. Now you're telling me they're going to redo the garden pathway as well? Hells bells, who designed this monstrosity? Just bulldoze and pave the whole thing, why don't they? It's looking less and less like a "park" and more like a parking lot.

Just how and why are they redoing a garden path? That's the location of the FP+ viewing for the fireworks. (Which by the way I am no longer watching from the front of the castle or along Main Street. I've found other more fun places to park myself.)

Having been a fan and visitor to Disney for many years, there have been some changes that really rubbed me the wrong way. I totally understand crowd control and traffic issues. But totally also hate all the greenery that's being eliminated and what I consider the character of the Hub area. Disney didn't consult me of course. And I'm sure getting around and "avoiding" the parade crowds (is that really possible??) trumps the rest.:crowded:

I hope they keep some semblance of the RG. I know for sure we weren't the only couple to have gotten engaged there. Other than that, I think the new design looks great!

thanks for the visual of the new HUB, I was just telling my husband a few weeks ago I just could not see it in my head. So much more room. I'm looking forward to seeing it all on our next trip.

Any thoughts on congestion during the construction. How hard is it to go down Main to Fantasyland for example. Can you still go thru the castle? I agree with some of the posts about green. Disneyland is so charming, lots of detail to landscaping, etc. Magic Kingdom is looking very concrete lately. How is contruction making moving around the park difficult? We will be there in March. It always amazes me how they are working on these things during some of the busiest seasons of the year. I thought I saw somewhere that something would be complete by end of this Feb? Is that possible. You would think once they get to the planting stage it could be done really quick.

While there will be many "stages of completion," don't expect the Hub to be finished until closer to the end of 2015.
(That is the hint of info that has been rumored.)

The major center section of the Hub (where the Walt and Mickey statue are found) has JUST been torn up within the past 2-3 weeks. They are a long way from completion.

Different stages of construction allow/disallow passage through different sections.
Access to various areas and pathways can vary as the process continues.

Back in December, I talked with a gardener in the RG right after rope drop one morning. The gardener said the rose bushes were due to be dug up and put through the mulcher. So sad. Those rose bushes are wonderful!

Thanks for posting this Dan~ kinda glad we went last September, only wish I had known this info then. so that we would have taken more pictures of the area.
Hope the knee is almost good as new!

I'll add one more bit of information - this afternoon, the moat is filled with water again. Two days ago, it was still empty.

Are you kidding me? That's a crime against nature. Those are award winning varieties that have been there for years. If I was a Disney gardener I'd quit over that nonsense. Who hired these Imagineers? Accountants and office workers?

Well I guess something had to be done to force attendance down. Destroying a beautiful park is definitely one way of doing it.

No ROI on rose bushes.

I'm not to down on this new layout. I liked how it looked before but I don't think this will change it too much. I am very disappointed however that when I go at the end of this month that Ill have to look at the hub and the castle through constructions walls. lol Im very happy for all the new things that have come, and are coming, to WDW but Im kind of getting sick and tired of all the construction walls

I wish they'd do something about the idiotic people who start staking out places for the Electrical Parade (usually at 9pm) from 6.30pm onwards!! Why do they want to be sitting on the kerb for 2½ hours and more??? It makes getting up and down Main Street an absolute nightmare. It's single file only with CMs directing people and not letting anyone stop. It's a row of shops, for heaven's sake! Give us a chance to go in and have a look if we want! I could barely get through with my scooter. For some reason we couldn't get up the street bit in the middle, or I'd have done that.

The point of all of this construction (on-stage and back-stage) is to accommodate those who choose to find a viewing spot early AND those who just want to walk past.

Hmm, Interseting thread..

1st off Thanks for the photos, & views of what is & what will be.. Very Informative.:teacher:
2nd. Although I do love the way the old hub looked, I'm certain that this is going to be a huge plus for thousands of people, trying to get by.Heck I never even knew about the path behind the bldgs.

Also to the pp that stated they hate const. walls......We all do, and it stinks that your trip/s have been during these times. But it is the same for many many other families ( us included ) as well. But Unfortunately in order to " KEEP MOVING FORWARD " these are the minor things that we have to deal with.....
A small price to pay for The single most greatest place on EARTH!.pixiedust:
