New $500 Resale DVC Transfer Fee

Yeah thats why I am kind of aloof about it, it's not impacting me directly right now. If I had signed and was in process Id be pretty mad. But I really do think at minimum an email should have been sent rather than just posting it to the FAQ's.

Wanted to add an email for existing members. As for new members buying resale, that is really on the shoulders of the broker to deal with.

My guess - it was leaked by DVD to someone to post on socials. I saw it on FB. No one checks that faq daily. But likely DVD didn't want to make an official announcement to draw too much attention to it. Welcome to corporate media at the end of 2025.

Well, the meeting is next week, so it possible it would be shared then?

They tend to roll things out and consider being on the website as notice. Then again, maybe there is a reason to had it there first? Before even notifying the title companies?

They did that with resale restrictions. Contracts that already were in ROFR were exempted.

Selfish me wondering if this will take attention away from the crappy VGC refurb questions or the "personal use only" checkbox questions. I bet it will since its brand new info.

I dont think they would send an email about resale to the wider audience who might not know about it.

Excuse me if this was mentioned in these last 10 pages but I just had to come here to mention that I've been putting in offers fast an furious and in the email exchanges with some brokers I mention the fee and they write back that they have no idea what I'm talking about. I assume they aren't lying to me but I know if this was my job there would've been an emergency meeting ASAP this morning to discuss the ramifications. At worst it would've been an excuse to have breakfast catered on the company dime!

If you are a broker you absolutely should be in the know even if being in the know isnt by DVC keeping you informed. No real excuse for any good broker to not know about this.

Yeah I don't see that as valid acceptable excuse. If anything resale is huge selling point. I think most people find comfort when buying direct for 30k that they have an out should they ever need it.

Reading through some of the new comments, it dawned on me. What if it's not pay for administration, but rather another revenue stream to increase ROFRs. Disney could use the funds to buy back more points, and thus sell for even more profit like the last AKL sale.

But the brokers may be saying that on purpose to protect themselves in the event Disney tries to charge everyone that closes after January 1st. That way, the lack of a transfer fee is a basic assumption of all parties entering into the contract. The broker is the agent for both parties… without an official statement from DVC I would deny knowing too
