It's a new record! My husband has only been gone a little over 3 hours. Now I know things will happen and stuff will break but jeez it's only been 3 hours and so far the gutter at the front of the house was just seen flying by the windows in the back of of my house. I'm then outside in the freezing cold and wind trying to chase the stupid thing down. It is now resting comfortably in the garage because I sure can't reach to replace it.

About an hour ago I hear a loud cracking and thinking great now what. Look out and one of those smallish decorative evergreen trees is now split in half. I guess the wind turned it over. No idea. I have visions in my future of me trying to cut it apart to throw away. Yeah right; I see myself calling for backup because it's stinking cold!

So 3 hours in and already things breaking. This is not setting a good precedent for what's to come. Good thing my love bank is full or my husband would be in deep doodoo for this already:rotfl:

happy new year!!!

This ALWAYS happens when DH goes out of town. Nothing ever breaks when he is home. The car NEVER breaks down when he is driving. It really stinks. :lmao:

It is windy as all get out out there!

Snowy! Where have YOU been?

kinda have been in hiding - but look out boards - I'm BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
Is hubby deployed, my lil' Betty Boopish friend?

no he is in GA for the next 4 -6 months and then home 3 months and then back to GA. At least I can call and visit so I can't complain that badly even if he did leave me in this frozen traffic laden "great for families" hell:rotfl:

How are y'all doing?

See, you should have moved out near me. We're still cold and we get traffic, but at least we're nice on our side of the city. :thumbsup2

I keep thinking I need to PM you and see if youd like to do lunch sometime. I know with busy schedules its difficult to juggle that. I'm unemployed as of yesterday so now I have time on my hands while I decide what to do next.

I told Matt he is just crappy to leave me up here in the cold and then spend his winter in GA. After all the times I've heard it really doesn't snow here and its really not that cold and now I have pictures of 2 ft of snow and seen a gutter fly by my house in the freezing freaking cold:rotfl: Good thing I have a sense of humor about it.

We were way overdue for a bad winter. Where I am we got two feet as well. We're on a peninsula in the Bay, so we usually don't get as badly as other people because our temperature moderates, but we got nailed this last time. The moisture from the Bay mixed into the snow and we got extra.

I work full time, but I'd love to find time to get together. I know Tig (Tigger&Belle) has been talking to me about doing lunch one day too.

Oh man, LMG, that's rough! I dunno what I'd do in my current state, other than bawl my eyes out. Luckily my FIL and my Dad both live within a couple of hours of my house.

Thanks! Its really not a problem. I'll deal with it on Monday. This is why I stil rent so I can call and complain to someone else;) It's not near as bad as the deployment where I had pneumonia and the bedroom roof caved in. That was quite an experience lol

oh hun - I feel your cold and winter blues! 'Member? I live in the frozen White Mountains of NH - why? Dunno - born in SC - high school in Az - stuck here! Anyhoo - hang in there and say hi to hubby for me!

As soon as I read the thread title I knew he was TDY.
 I hate 'great for families' hells.

thats because you understand the pain, my friend;)

We are already seeing if we can break out of the contract before 3 years here. He is ready to go back to a combat unit with the 'real army'. Apparently the pentagon isnt good enough:rotfl:

:rotfl: Sorry to laugh, but that's a great visual!!! I can totally see this happening to me!
You will have to start a Things That Go Wrong When Husband Is Away journal or funny things that happen while husband is away.

Steve was out with his buddies one night.I made hot chocolate and almost burned the house down. I must have looked like an episode of I love Lucy as I tried to opened windows to get the smoke out of the house with the smoke alarms buzzing. What a dope!

When I was deployed, there was a massive brush fire in CA near where my ex and I lived. He had to evacuate, taking everything he could with him. The apartments across the street burned, ours didn't. Luckily he was able to get his buddy to drive my car on base so that it didn't get torched.

My current DH was TDY to somewhere I can't know about, and we had the police search my house twice! Someone had apparently used our address as theirs when they were arrested, then skipped bail and didn't show up to court. That was absolutely fascinating. Email to him right afterwrards: So the house just got searched by the police. That was all I wrote, lol.

We live on Ft. Belvoir and our whole house has been creaking and making the most awful noises since last night! We were supposed to be here 3 years also but we are PCS'ing back to Savannah next summer...it is way too cold and way too far north for us here in NoVA, especially since we've lived in Savannah, GA and Hawaii for the last 12 years.

Hope no more of your house blows away..lol...I am hoping the siding stays intact on mine!
