Add me to the list of people that love the clothes line idea. It is so cute. The boys looked liked they were having so much fun during their spy party.
My parents are on Lake Superior this week and said that that was even swimable!![]()

WOW your title snagged me and your Pre-Trip Planning/reporting having me joining the fun. Your title reminded me of our up coming trip DH said that there was no way we could do a Disney Trip this year cause we brought a house and umm I was like ookkk I can understand that then Disney had to go and send me a pin and the rest is history....)
I spent many summer playing in the black sand of Lake Superior and LOVED the summers spent there. So enjoyed hearing about your family trips there.
I LOVED the birthday party am definitely going to show my best friend the sunshine one and my son is wanting a Club Penguin Secret Agent for his 10th birthday so am telling you now I am stealing some ideas
Can't wait to read more!!!!
Wow!!!!! That's incredible!!! I have never visited when it was warm enough for swimming, just a quick dip.
Your two parties are simply incredible! The "You are My Sunshine" is so cute and her outfit is beautiful! Very nice job!!! Are you going to get some 1 year old professional pictures done in it? I love the idea with the clothesline too!
The spy party. Seriously genius! Henry is still obviously too young, but I am logging this one into my bookmarks for a future party!!!!
Trip Plans Recap
Its been so fun sharing with you all of our fun from the summer - birthday parties, vacation, every day life -- but I feel like we need to get back to important business, Disney business. I made this plan out back in May at the 180 day mark and have let it stew. I think stewing is important, let everything combine, mellow and see how it feels. Now that I am back to looking I have some thoughts, concerns and reservations. Some of these are old and you have heard plenty about them. Others have just cropped up. I am going to do a general overview of the trip and then list a bunch of questions. Please jump in and give me your opinions. When I ask the hubby, I get grunts. I am thinking we really need far more than grunts right now!:

Ok: the questions:
1. From reading harleyquinns I have learned that by going to guest services in the parks you can get your tickets from a package up to three days before a package actually begins. We arrive on Friday and have no real plans for Saturday. Should I make Saturday a park day too? It certainly doesnt need to be a full day and we will not have the DDP so our park food would have to be out of pocket. Thoughts?
Last summer we did pick up our tickets a day early so that we did not have to haul it over the next morning. You can really decide that at the last moment since there are no ADRs and the weather could determine swimmming, etc. Plus adding an extra day costs so little.
2. Candlelight Processional? Yes? No? Maybe? I love the *idea* of it. I think I would find truly moving and inspirational. But, what about the kids? I think Doug would watch and be sort of interested and Liam could be semi-distracted, but then theres my wild card, my little diva. Aileens not big on being quiet and loves her bedtime. Distractions dont last very long either. We could do the DDP CP package but thats 2 credits. It seems kind of steep to me.
I would not do the dining probably and see if you can catch a seat, it is a slower season and it might work. I know what you mean about a wild card.
3. Hoop Dee Doo Revue: Same as above, except for the religious partIf we do go to HDDR, we have to drop something. What do you think should go? Cape May is obvious... but then Tonys? Ohana? 50s?
I selfishly want you to HDDR... but I know I wonder if Luke would be okay. he loves to eat though...it is on my plan for next summer, I want to go before Hannah is ten and costs more!
3. Cape May ADR: I made this when we were driving down and could get over there with a car. Now we need to rely on Disney Transportation. I realize we are going to be in a great location to do this but it will be a headache. What about changing CMC for a meal at GF and see the gingerbread house? WCC and see their decorations?
I would can Cape May... it would be a bit of a hassle to get to IMO.
5. Via Napoli: It looks great. The menu looks wooooonderful. We love pizza. We love Italian food. Again, something needs to go, but what?
I need to check out that menu!
Thanks so much! Both were great fun for me to plan and put on!
I am glad my title brought you in! It's so cool to stumble on other TRs and find so many common threads. To quote Walt "It's a Small World After All"! (Ok I know he didn't write it, but I give the man the credit!) I love luring the hubby in with Disney math and magic codes -- and not being able to say no to their kiddos!
LOL so true if you would like to read the thread its in my sig and would love to have you join us
Do you live out the Lake Superior way? That's such a gorgeous lake, so natural, so pure!
I WISH well okay i wish during the spring summer and fall I HATE snow so nope live in KS but my sister was born there on the airbase and my father is a hunter so we spent many summers there I still like cold water to this day
Please, please, please, take anything! Oddly enough, they complimented each other very well. We bought all solid yellow paper products and just changed the tablecloths from orange to black.
LOL I just might do that cause would you believe there is NOTHING of party stuff for Club Penguin talk about Disney dropping the ball
ready for more reading I wish I could help with your list but I am horrible about that I let my hubby and Tour Guide Mike set up our days

I would definitely just play it by ear once you get there and see how you feel and what the weather is doing.

DH and I were going to do the CP for our trip but we decided not to because we really aren't interested in the celebrity narrator. I have never seen it, so I don't want to encourage you to miss it, but it would really be all about who the celebrity narrator is going to be for me.
3. Hoop Dee Doo Revue: Same as above, except for the religious partIf we do go to HDDR, we have to drop something. What do you think should go? Cape May is obvious... but then Tonys? Ohana? 50s?
That's tough, because I love Tony's and 50's! I have never tried Ohana but I've heard great things and I'm trying it in Dec.
3. Cape May ADR: I made this when we were driving down and could get over there with a car. Now we need to rely on Disney Transportation. I think changing to something at GF sounds like a great plan! I am dying to see that gingerbread house!
5. Via Napoli: It looks great. The menu looks wooooonderful. We love pizza. We love Italian food. Again, something needs to go, but what?
I'm sorry I'm no help with this one... I love Italian food too but I haven't heard of Via Napoli. Is that the new restaurant? If it's new I say definitely try it out if you can!![]()
I love love love Aileen's outfit- it is just darling! What fun parties. Our big week is starting next week with birthdays!
Thanks so much! Both were great fun for me to plan and put on!

I am a tour guide mike fan too! I have no problem assigning park days, but ADRs stress me out! Hopefully throwing a few penguins on tthe secret agent party will be enough. I asked my son what happened at secret agent parties and went from there. I'll hope over there as soon as I am done updating!
I really want to see this too. I think it could go either way with Lexi. She loves music, but I think she would need to be in the mood to sit through this. I was planning on just going and trying to get a seat and then if Lexi got rowdy then we could leave.
I am thinking am I am going to go with the "overhearing from a distance" plan. I just don't think she's going to cooperate. She is not a sitting still kind of girl.
Here are my two pennies!
I can't help with question #1, but looks like you've gotten some responses about that!
Henry was 2.5 when we did it - he got very restless. We made it, and could pretty much enjoy it, but we were pulling out distraction after distraction and tag-teamed it. I think a better solution might be to not get a seat, but just stand in the walkway outside and enjoy whatever you can catch of it before the kids get restless, then move on. You'll be able to hear the music from quite a ways I'm assuming since it's amplified too!
The HDDR seems to always be a big hit with kids! I think I would drop Tony's out of your choices since Ohana is very kid-friendly and 50s can be as well.
It would be a hassle...might not be worth it. The gingerbread house is very cute to see, but the WCC would offer a boat ride from MK if you choose to go that way - and that is always fun for kids. Plus the WL is breathtaking with their decorations! In the Villas lobby there are some trains too if your kids are interested (something to scope out after breakfast maybe?) Plus, they have the big 'ol platter of food, which is sometimes great with little ones.
If you are already ditching Tony's, and need to ditch something else, I would ditch 50s. Ohana is a blast, races and limbo for the kids, music, etc. And the food is sooooooooooooooo good!
Thanks for the pennies Jill. They were well spent! After reading in your TR and rereading about Henry at CP here, I just don't I want to give up 2 credits for that. Aileen can barely make it through dinner at a restaurant some days!
Those birthday parties look AWESOME!!They both looked so great!
My thoughts are in purple!![]()
Thanks! They were really a hoot to do!!

Thanks for all the responses to my questions. Sometimes I just need to hear it from other people to know I am doing the right thing. Here's what I am thinking now:
1. I think you guys are right about the tickets. We can see what Saturday brings and go from there. Buses go from Pop to MK and every other park (or so I've heard) so we should be good there. Who knows - the weather in December could be perfect for swimming or maybe shopping??
2. I think we are going to do the walk by listen to CP. Aileen is not a good sitter and I think it will be worse once she learns to walk. We'll find an area where she can move it and we can overhear. Maybe with snacks and movement, we can listen for quite a while!
3. HDDR - this is the hardest one of all for me. Aileen hates to sit. I think the boys would love the show. I just cannot make up my mind!! I do know she'd love the whole menu, so there's that in our favor. Think I can keep her eating for the entire two hours?
4. Cape May: Gone!! Axed earlier this afternoon and not feeling bad!
5. Via Napoli: Right now I am trying to convince Mr. Mop how we should pay for a meal (or two) out of pocket. Not going well!!![]()
It's so hard for me to say what to drop. I hate dropping anything!I do hope you'll get to see or at least hear some of the Candlelight Processional.
It sounds funny to think about getting the kids up at 8 for an 8:10 ADR. One of the very nice perks of being right there at the Contemporary.![]()
Both kids' parties were great! I know you spent a lot of time on them. That's what we've been doing these past couple of weeks. Combined with the beginning of school, it has kept everyone busy, but it will be fun.
Joining in finally!!!!
Great plans, I love the birthday parties and their themes.. you are very creative!
nice birthday pic updates!!!!!
The plan seems great to me, as far as what to drop..I have my own personal hate feelings about Tonys so if it were me, I'd drop that!
Thank you so much for the compliments. It really was a labor of love. A few times I thought I was going to lose it, but both Ryan and my grandmother were big time seamstresses so I said a few big prayers asking for help and my troubles went away! ARe you guys doing joint or separate parties? At home or a place?
There honestly is no party planned for Luke. It will be low key with a Toy story cake and plates. It is the end of the first week of school for both Hannah and I so we will be done. Plus my inlaws are moving around then, so I just did not plan anything.
Hannah's party is Monday at the Golf Center on Columbia- they love to putt putt there, it was a good deal (3 dollars per kid, as much golf as we want and they have a room for free, no problem bringing in food and etc) and kept the kids out of my house!
