it will sting for? I was pulling out the plant for my mom and the thing has grown so much 'cause of all the rain, well, I guess I was careless and I rubbed against it and it hurts!~

Any remedy to make the stinging go away?

TIA

Oh Scratch! I have no answer for you. I don't even know what Nettle is! But I hope you are feeling better and the pain has by now abated.

Hi Scratch!! :)

Awww...does it still hurt? I'm not really sure what to suggest besides any kind of topical ointment/spray, that you might use for stings and bites.

Here's more info on Nettle, just for the heck of it..lol..:)

~ Also known as "stinging nettle" because the prickly hollow needles on its dark green leaves sting and burn upon contact, nettle (Urtica dioica) is an ancient herbal remedy for snakebites, asthma, arthritis, urinary tract inflammation, and excessive menstrual flow. While the above-ground parts of the plant--the leaf and the stem--are generally still used for these purposes, the roots are now popular for treating the discomforts of an enlarged prostate.

This flowering perennial can be found growing wild in the wastelands of the United States, Canada, and Europe. It's even used as a kitchen herb in many parts of world. Luckily, drying or boiling the plant dissolves the painful bristles. Many people like to steam the leaves to eat like spinach, or simmer them in soup. The young shoots are actually quite rich in vitamin C. ~

My mom used it as a punishment!LOL

No seriously, she uses it for her arthritis 'cause when they sting, they bring the blood flow right to area and warms it up!

This morning, the areas are just feeling numb!

Well at least I won't have to worry about the stuff anymore.
Closing on the house is today and since we both now live in apartments, no place to grow it!

Kim please don't tell me it can become a container plant! I will not pass this info on!LOL ;)

That's the spirit Janet...let the new owners deal with it!!! LOL....:p ;)

The site actually had a long list of Nettle's medicinal uses, those were just a few. I think that's pretty cool that it helped your Mom with her arthritis! :)

Braken Fern - often grows near nettles - break off the frond and rub the juice on the nettle exposure. It takes the sting away fast!

I will note this for future occurances!

The next day I could not feel my fingers for most of the day!

Welcome, LAinSEA! :)

Thank you for your nature's own remedy! :) Do you have any other "in your garden" cures for what ails us? :)

Glad your numbness is gone, Janet. :)
