Right now I am planning to keep it at 2 DVDs and streaming, but I will wait until September to decide.

I just cancelled Directv though! :thumbsup2

I voted that I cancelled part of my subscription. I haven't done that yet. We want to watch a few more dvds, then cancel in August before the price change. We already rent at Redbox occasionally since we have to wait so long for the new releases. There's no point in keeping the DVD portion. We'll keep the streaming for a few more months. We'll reevaluate in October. We were already planning to become Amazon Prime members in the fall before we start Christmas shopping, so we may just use their free streaming and cancel Netflix all together.

As much as I dislike the price increase we kept our original plan of 1 dvd and unlimited streaming. According to an article in PC Magazine the reason for the price increase is that netflix will start offering more mainstream movies via streaming, so I am holding out a bit longer to see if it holds true or not. We do not pay for cable tv at all so netflix and hulu plus are our only tv sources.

this :thumbsup2

I don't know how well this will work for Netflix if only 25 % of it's customers are keeping their plans the way that they were. I'm sure they'll still make money on those that downgrade. hmmmm

I voted based on what I will do. Since the increase doesn't happen until September, I haven't done anything yet.

We cancelled...we don't use it enough to justify the cost. We get the DVDs on occassion but usually if we wanted to see a movie - we were at Redbox anyway. Added to that slow streaming (probably my internets fault not theirs) and we decided to just get rid of it. Had we used it a lot or loved it - I would have probably kept it. At the old price I didn't mind keeping it for on occasion but I just couldn't justify the higher cost!

::yes::

Same here, same reasons!

Changed plan: We cancelled the DVD portion and are now just streaming. If they had newer releases then the DVD's might be worth it, but right now I can't see paying 7.99/mo for a few rentals in their selection.

Canceling next week. We were planning on canceling as of August 1 anyway before they made the announcement.

As my main reason for Netflix is to view older TV shows I may have missed, I'll stick with the "streaming only" option for the time being.

For those of you who have never checked-out Redbox -- it may be worth your while (plus, they are nearly everywhere!).

Another emerging option is Vudu, which offers on-demand movies through your PC, Vudu-enabled Blu-ray player, or other device. As Vudu is owned by the nation's largest retailer, there's no doubt it will be around for the long haul.

Also, expect Blockbuster's online offerings to take advantage of this situation, too.

We're planning to cancel the streaming and keep the 1-dvd-at-a-time plan. We haven't really found that much that we care to stream - we've maybe done it twice in over a year? It's very quick turn-around for the dvds, so we'll keep that.

I'm keeping my 1 DVD and streaming. I am not that upset about the increase in what it costs me. For Netflix to continue adding content to streaming, they are going to have to pay more for the shows and movies. Companies are asking a LOT for those contracts now, which is increasing the costs of them for Netflix.

We will go to streaming only in September. I will leave it at the streaming + 1 DVD out at a time until our billing cycle in September. We use streaming more than the DVD's. The DVD's are pretty old by the time we get them. I wish there were more things on streaming but we have watched some good movies we never would have plus tv shows like Californication, The Tudors, Spartacus, X-Files, Twilight Zone and I just added the Ken Burns National Parks and Civil War series.

We are keeping our 1 dvd and streaming. Although no one likes increases we do use ours a lot so it is worth it to us.

Your poll doesn't have my answer per se.

When they increased things $1 to maintain DVD delivery we didn't do it, so we are streaming only already. So yes we are staying with our current plan, but if we had DVD we'd drop it.

I just looked at Amazon. I had no idea they did streaming. I may cancel my Netflix and go with the Amazon Prime instead. It is cheaper than Netflix streaming only and you get the free 2 day shipping on Amazon purchases. No brainer as long as they have some decent stuff to watch.:cool1:

You left off the option for lower subscription. Instead of 2 blurays at a time we'll be dropping to 1 at a time and keeping the streaming - for now...

I am going to keep it as it is for now, it is still alot cheaper (1/4th of the price of the cheapest cable package) than cable or satellite and we get to choose what we want to watch. I can also watch it on my iPod, my laptop, the Wii and my Android phone, you can't beat that.

Well I did just change my plan from 4 dvds to 3, but that was because I finished my cinema studies class, not anything to do with the price. Therefore I voted that I kept my plan the same.

I canceled shortly after the last price increase as I do not watch enough DVDs to truly justify the cost. What I now do is stockpile a list of DVDs I want to watch. Once I get a few on my list, I'll get Netflix for a month or two and work down my list. Once I hit the point where I am just ordering DVDs to say I am ordering DVDs, I cancel the subscription and start the list stockpile process over. Last time, I started when Doctor Who series 5 came out... we'll see if anything prompts me to start up again! I used to just keep Netflix all the time, but they've raised it high enough that I can't justify it unless I have a few shows I really want to watch.

We did have the 3 DVDs plus streaming - dropped it down to 2 DVDs at a time no streaming. So went from about $20/ month to around $12. We never used the streaming. Most of the time our account is on hold we go through phases of using Netflix.
