This is all from Screamscape:
The Living Seas / Nemo Ride - (6/16/05) I’ve received an interesting rumor today that talked about a possible rehab closure of The Living Seas sometime before the end of the year that would bring about a few more Nemo themed additions. Could this be a replacement to the preshow film about Seabase Alpha or perhaps the time has come to do something with the old Sea Cabs?

(6/21/05) We’ve heard from a couple of insiders who confirm hearing that the attraction is scheduled to close down for the next phase of the rehab this August. They have also heard that this will involve the old Sea Cabs attraction and may actually result in the removal of the pre-show film to make room for the new attraction. It may not actually reopen until April 2006. Anyone else know more?

(6/27/05) The latest rumor about the new Nemo themed ride at The Living Seas comes from DLP.info where they’ve been trying to dig up information about the Nemo themed dark ride in development for Walt Disney Studios Paris. While the two rides will be different, they claim that many of the special effects planned for the Paris attraction will be built and tested out for the Living Seas attraction first. This may include several “wet-for-dry” effects scenes and some kind of special effect to take guests on a ride through the bubble filled East Australian Current.

I have heard they may be removing the ride system all together and making it a walk-through experience. I wouldnt think they would need to close the entire Living Seas. Everything they have done so far has been done with the rest of the attraction open.

What a new dark nemo ride in DLP! Maybe worth a 4th trip then?

Yup, from what I heard a new area is going to be developed in the Studios. It will have a Finding Nemo dark ride and something from Flik's Fun Fair (I think it's supposed to be Flik's Flyers) and one or two other rides. The Nemo dark ride is supposed to be the biggest of the new attractions, and will weave in and out of the building.

I'm usually pretty forgiving about the design choices that Disney / The Imagineers make regarding attractions, but I've been less than impressed with the changes to The Living Seas thus far. Turtle Talk is a great attraction, but all of the design changes added to the pavilion are less than impressive.

I wish they would just close the pavilion for 6 months and do a proper job.

Whatever they do, I wish they would re-open the sea cabs. I always thought that was an important part of the ride. You keep hearing things like the ride developed leaks. Like, with all of that water pressure on the walls and floors of the "aquarium" wouldn't there be a heck of a lot of leaks all over the place? If other major aquariums all over the world do not have problems with "leaks" Disney certainly shouldn't. :confused3 There is more to the closing of the sea cabs then Disney is talking about. Gee! What a surprise!!

I am scheduled to do Divequest at the Living Seas in late August. Upon seeing this thread, I called the reservation line to see if anything had changed. FWIW, the CM indicated the Living Seas will be open through August and that she was not aware of any scheduled rehab closure for this attraction.

Not that I didn't like Nemo, or would I dislike a Nemo attraction. I just don't connect the storyline with the sea--directly--I realize it was set in the SEA. It (the story) was more about Parents letting go, and allowing their kids to grow up.

I wish they would bring back the Sea Cabs, too. I think the new attraction from Finding Nemo would be pretty cool in my opinion. :goodvibes
