Nemo Ride- no longer accessible. Update: Happy News on post 22

I'll have to check it out again and I'm lucky I CAN check it out again. There may be some for whom it was their only chance to ride this attraction and they were turned away. I need another person to assist me with my SD- she doesn't like the ramp being turned as she feels she's going to be separated from me ( that's not going to happen in her opinion) so I won't be able to try again til late August.---Kathy

I went over to Epcot today and talked to a Line Greeter at Nemo who was wearing a Trainer pin. I discussed the situation with him.

Basically when Nemo first opened it could handle power chairs. Howver, the accessible clamobile kep breaking down and they had to take it off-line for repairs so much that they stopped allowing power chairs.

However, just this week they got a replacement which is much stronger and designed to handle the additional weight of a power chair, so now the ride is accessible for power chairs again.

So it was a design problem which the feel has now been corrected and should not have such problem any more.

I'm glad too! It was so much worse for me to think that something that was once accessible was taken away and the CM's I spoke with indicated that the new vehicle was a permanent change. If I had been given the correct information it would've been much easier to deal with the situation, knowing that steps were being taken to allow people in power chairs to ride. Since there aren't many things one can do if you can't transfer then it's a REALLY big deal when WDW makes something that does allow us to enjoy an attraction with our families.---Kathy

We were in Epcot on Friday and they wanted Bill to transfer out of his power chair, I told them if he had to transfer we wouldn't be riding. She got another CM and they said ok and let us on.

Just be firm if you can't transfer and ask to speak to someone else if they say no at first. I know not all power chairs would fit, but Bill's is not big and he has been on the ride twice on previous trips.
