Nemesis Challenge:It's OK to Finish Next-To-Last, As Long As I Beat HIM/ Its Here!!!!

Hi Tim and Barry! going to join in on the fun!

:cheer2::cheer2: for you both for wanting to get healthier for yourselves and your beautiful families :cheer2::cheer2:

I don't like to run, never have, never will....but wish you both luck in the marathon :woohoo:

Replies to the posts today may be delayed due to Leap Day.

I don't have to get up early to watch the race, do I?
I have a feeling you could sleep in and still catch the boys crossing the finish line.
This is great! We need help from marathoners like you! Are you planning on running in the 2013 marathon?

Clarification- I'm a half-marathoner. I'm not doing another Disney vacation in 2012, but I'm considering heading down just for a race or two. Haven't decided yet. I'll be running the Richmond half-marathon in November and depending on how that goes, I may consider doing the full at Disney. Also considering the Tower of Terror ten-miler and the Food and Wine half.

My advice to both of you is to sign up for a local race right away. Don't think about training for a half-marathon that's 10 months away. Train for something smaller- a 10k or shorter that's sometime in the next few months. Get a quick success under your belt and have the experience and confidence boost that gives you as you head in to the summer months.

Shhh...I don;t think Barry knows he has to get up early to RUN the race.

I think I just figured out Tim's motivation here. Its all a big Punk. Barry's going to show up to run the race at like 5 am and Tim's going to roll out of bed just in time to watch the finish with a nice hot cup of Nescafe for Barry at the end. :lmao:

Bravo Tim. I love a good Punk but next time don't be so obvious. :lmao:

As the DW of Barry I must ask...

What is the true motivation of Tim? Are you trying to make me a single mother of three by killing off your nemesis? I know I give Barry a hard time but I would kind of like him to stick around for the next few years, at least until the diaper years have passed. What then Madison will be in her tween years and the teen years are right around the corner, he will need to be here for that so I don't go crazy.

I also think you picked an interesting year to do this. Barry has a brand new baby coming in a few weeks. He can train until then but he may be slightly sleep deprived for a few months. Oh well, he accepted.

Either way, I get another Disney trip out of this. I don't have to get up early to watch the race, do I?

Bambi we plan to rebuild him. We have the technology to make him faster, stronger and better than before.

And no you don't have to be up early. As a matter of fact you should use the start time for those early morning feedings. He has to practice getting up early for the race. Don't you think?

She wants to but it depends on school. Freshman year of college and she is not sure she will be able to take off from school or more importantly time to train. Reserved a 1 BR at the BWV in case she can go. We shall see.

Do you want a rematch with her? Still chuckling over your "DisDad eating Cheetah" post.

I'd love a re-match. The only question is the money. I'd fly down, get a room for a night or two, race, eat, and a day in the parks with the DisDads. I'd be lucky to do that for under $500. Don't know if I can justify that.

Here's your justification...it would cost me four times that...unfortunately, I have to wait for at least 2014...

This sounds like fun! I am hoping to run the Princess half Marathon or the TInkerbell Half in DL next year. I just had knee surgery so I am not able to run for 2-3 months :( I am trying to sign up for the Wine and Dine 5K at Disney in November (Tim I think it is during your trip you should look into it for practice). My ULTIMATE GOal is to Run the Boston Marathon with the Alzheimer's Association in 2013! Not sure I will be up to snuff by October when they pick the team though. Hoping to get on the Falmouth Road Race team this August for the 7 mile UP HILL run!

My biggest advice, make sure you trim your toe nails, stretch your FEET, and get to a sports store that puts you on a treadmill to get your shoes fitted.

Wow an opportunity to watch a train wreck…
Now, now. Let's not be too hard on Tim yet.
I may not get to go to the DDC Convention, but following this challenge may be the next best thing. Good luck to both of you and may the best man win! :thumbsup2
I don't think I've ever had anyone live vicariously though me. I'm not sure how I should feel about that.

Bravo to the both of you.

Barry, got your back. Consider me Mickey (the trainer not the mouse) to your Rocky. This is going to be fun. For us, not you guys.

Now Barry go out there and chase around some chickens.
I'm gonna eat lightening and I'm gonna crap thunder!
[humming "Eye of the Tiger"]

This is going to be fun to watch. Do we have to choose sides? Can't we all just get along? Barry's got the Cubs thing working for him, but can I really side with a Packers fan?

I was a half-marathon rookie until January. I can talk you through some of the rookie mistakes you may make. Anyway- good luck to you both!
Its great that you're here, Chris. We're(Tim) going to need all the help we(Tim) can get!

So we were played.
Well, kind of, yeah. :rolleyes1
I think now, I want to be on Team Bambi and Team Melody!
Rooting for a debilitating injury?

Of course - but that's part of the sheer beauty of it all! Classic thwart & divert, smack talk and make other people think that they prompted an idea... when all along the devious plot was brewing before everyone's very eyes.

I LOVE IT!
It's all about "the show", isn't it Stopher?:thumbsup2

I may have to take this as my excuse to join the festivities. Both for my fitness and the opportunity to make it to the DDC.
Awesome idea! The more the merrier!

If my nemesis is joining team timmy, then I must as a good nemeses join Team Barry!
Welcome to the team Randall!

This whole Team Barry/Team Tim thing vaguely reminds me of that Twilight stuff DW watches, only slightly less embarassing .:rolleyes1
Tim does kind of remind me of a sparkly vampire...

Sorry Barry but Randall made me do it
Its OK Carl, I understand. :sad2:

Told the Half Marathon running, Pirate Princess your post. She gave me a sly grin. Then asked innocently, "He is talking about me?" Well, you let the cat (or cheetah) out of the bag. No problem because Stopher didn't take the bait. Anyway if she can get away from school she will be running the Marathon. For those that did not know she ran it in 2:13.
That's 2 days, 13 hours right? Because I'm pretty sure I can beat that.

Chin up Barry, we can take them. Now go eat a dozen raw eggs.
Chicken or Ostrich?

Either way, I get another Disney trip out of this. I don't have to get up early to watch the race, do I?
You don't have to watch the whole thing. Just the start and the end.

OMG I just totally stumbled apron this PTR. So fun! I will be following along as I strive for the Princess half myself in 2013. There is no better motivation than a Disney race. :thumbsup2
I just wanted to say good luck, we're all counting on you. :thumbsup2

Shhh...I don;t think Barry knows he has to get up early to RUN the race.
Wait - I knew we had to get up early. Now you're telling me I have to RUN in it!

It has nothing to do with the fact that I will thoroughly enjoy seeing him suffer as he trains to get half marathon ready.
Thanks for the support Andy!

I like manly colors... unlike Barry. He likes pastels.
Tim, Tim, Tim. Hot Pink is not a "manly" color.:sad2:

This is going to be epic. I can;t wait to read along. Maybe Kathy and I should make our girls trip at the same time so we can come and cheer :cheer2:
That'd be great!

I got this weird text message today that says "I have a PTR going and I'm letting you know so you don't get mad." And I thought to myself...he already started his PTR...what the he** is he talking about????I thought maybe it was a mistake and he was really texting me to tell me he had finally mailed my wallet picture of the kids from Christmas (yes, I have not forgotten it, Tim!!!).

So, Mary I think your idea is great...we can jeer...oops, I mean cheer on the boys. And then we could meet Bambi and the kids which I've been wanting to. Oh, and I guess that means I'll meet Tim too. :lmao::lmao::lmao:
Hi Kathy! Great to see you here!

I suppose I could run. But, I'm not sure I want to run.
Well, you'd fit in quite nicely then. I don't think either of us want to run either!

If he survives, I'm happy. But we're talking like a noon race right? Barry is the early riser, not me.
As Rob says, I'm up for before the rooster s**ts.:thumbsup2

Oh and Tim - before you get too much further, I just want to point something out to you, especially considering I am one of your most ardent fans and supporters, and your #2 wing man here...
Awesome. If this the kind of "support" Tim will get from his team I think this will work out just fine...:cool2:

I think I've found where I'll be getting my entertainment for the year... :thumbsup2
I suppose I can do a little song and dance while I train. :confused3
How's your training going?

Actually your grammar don't bother me. Just spelling. ;)
Shouldn't that be "your grammar doesn't bother me?":confused3

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Thanks! Its quit a challenge, but I think we're up to it!

You're being optimistic that we're (Tim) actually going to finish.

Umm..."right away"? Not in Wisconsin...we have to wait for the thaw first. :rotfl2:

I will drag him by the scruff of the neck if I have too.

Should be fun towatch... and maybe get my dead butt off the couch more:rolleyes1
Go for it!

Bambi we plan to rebuild him. We have the technology to make him faster, stronger and better than before.
Sounds like my van...

That sounds like a lot of running you've got planned. Good Luck and thanks for the advice.:thumbsup2

Finally made it through this.

What a great idea. Good luck to you both. Who knows I am may joing you....:lmao:

I suppose I can do a little song and dance while I train. :confused3
How's your training going?

Not as well as it should (only been running about once a week), but I plan on doing a fairly long run today.

Thank you. Come on down! :goodvibes

Not as well as it should (only been running about once a week), but I plan on doing a fairly long run today.

I know how the "not as well as it should" goes. I've been doing that for about a year now. :sad2:

It's all about "the show", isn't it Stopher?:thumbsup2

Absolutely! It's not as if Disney hasn't been permeating my life or anything for the past, oh 30+ years.

Awesome. If this the kind of "support" Tim will get from his team I think this will work out just fine...:cool2:

;) Did I ever tell you that "The Sting" is my all-time favorite movie? Yeah, a little bit of all what I described goes on there...and then some.

Shouldn't that be "your grammar doesn't bother me?":confused3

Of course it should be "doesn't" - I was attempting to illustrate my point. My educator of a wife would have had my hide for that post, if she were following along. However she spends her internet time on other time killers vs. The DIS, such as Words with Friends, Scrabble and other Facebook games.

Hi Kat! I'll be there, too! :cool1::cool1:

You're running Don? Cool.

I know how the "not as well as it should" goes.

Me too.
