Neighbor's Barking Dog issue

Wow! Thanks for all the replies. Crazy day at work and never expected so many responses. :goodvibes

I do not know the neighbors at all. My neighborhood is very reserved. DD and I seem to be the only ones outside on the weekends. I know there are kids but there is none of the "outside" play like our old neighborhood.

We have tried the a fan. The dog's bark just carries very well.

I think I will try to catch them at home this weekend. It can't hurt!

That being said - I feel no need to carry this to the point of posioning the dog like the other poster. Uh -- so inhumane and unnecessary.

Also to all the posters who have dogs thank you for being aware of your dog and thier barks! Dogs are wonderful animals - once dd is older we are planning on getting one (hopefully ours will not bark excessively).

I'll be reading these posts because I'm a neighbor with a barking dog!:rolleyes1
I let him out on my very small deck to get some air during the day, and he barks because he knows there are cats around, even though he may not see them. I live on a city block where we all live practically on top of each other, and I really need to break my puppy's bad habit! So far, no neighbors have complained, but I think it may just be a matter of time.:guilty:

This was not tolerated on our block dog barked 24 hrs a day even choking himself . The owners refused to take him in one neighbor had everyone sign a letter complaining we didnt want to get involved we couldnt hear him that good. After letters, calls to animal control, police etc no luck so the ring leader of the letter sending just poisoned the dog. Didnt like to see it come to that and hthey were WARNED never to get another dog.

Sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We live in a neighborhood full of barking dogs, and yes, ours are part of the population of barkers. We lock the dogs indoors at night. The rest of the neighborhood goes on happily barking.

Thing is, we get the stink-eye from ONE neighbor. She's terrified of German Shepherds and hates one of our dogs simply because she's a GSD. (We share a property boundry, but there are TWO board fences between our dogs and her. She can't even see our GSD. . .) So I know she's tried complaining. . .but when no one else in the neighborhood locks their dogs up and we DO simply because we don't want to hear it either - the Border Collie has a bark that could shatter glass - uh yeah, neighbor's not taken seriously by anyone.

Still. . .I know some people have a hard time sleeping through noise, and not everyone on our block has the same sleep schedule as us (bed by 10, up by 5:30). Personally, I don't mind barking dogs. I just consider it one of the night noises. If the dogs next door or on the other side of the backyard fence are barking, I hope it's at something good. . .
