Just joined WW yesterday. This is not my first time joining, but it is the first time I have been there since they offer the "Core" plan. I really like the way it sounds, especially since sugar and starches seem to be real trigger foods for me. BUT I am just wondering if there is anyone out there who has actually done this plan? If so, does it seem to work. I would love to try it, but I don't want to waste my time if it doesn't seem to work. The moderator at the meeting admitted to not having more than a few days experience with this plan. I wan't comfortable asking during the meeting since the core plan didn't specifically come up. I'm really looking for some advice and encouragement. PLEASE HELP!! Thank you, thank you thanks you.

Sorry I cannot help specifically with the Core plan. I never tried it myself. But my advise would be ASK YOUR LEADER!! I don't know about your meeting(s), but most of mine have EXCELLENT leaders. And they would never hesitate to answer any questions. Secondly, RAISE YOUR HAND during the meeting and ask for help with the Core plan. I'm sure that there are others at your meeting who have tried it and can help you. That is what WW is all about.... getting together with others who are trying to lose weight and who want to help each other and support each other! Good Luck.......P

Hi there,

While I have not tried the core plan myself it seems to work for many.

Try the Weight watcher website - go to the community section and visit the weekly points allowance board. There are many on the program there that are successful and they will answer many questions.

Also try:

I do know that the core program is based on Volumetrics. Read the following for the science behind core.

Good luck, its based on healthy foods so it will work if you learn to know when to stop eating based on hunger.

thank you for the responses. i will check the links and see if there is more information there. I did ask the leader at the end of the meeting when she was explaining the programs to the "newbies", however, like i said before, she admitted to not knowing the core program very well. she suggested if we have more questions that we go in on a tuesday and see the leader there. tuesday doesn't work for me, which is why i chose a sunday meeting. so i might try calling and speaking with someone there on tuesday. if there is anyone out there who is currently on the core program, i'd LOVE to hear from you!

thank you again for the responses, i really appreciate it!! :flower:

Yes, I am a CORER!!!! I have been an at-goal for almost three years. And the past few months (well, since Christmas, you know ...) I have been over my goal weight and not losing every quickly on the Flex plan anymore. I was losing .2, .6, .6 pound for three weeks ... then I went to Disneyworld and well, you know what happened. Yep, that 1.5 pounds + came back.

I'm an avid walker and log in abou 3 miles a day, too. So, my leader suggested I try Core. I lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks -- which is unheard of for me. :cool1:

I'm enjoying it. I eat when I get hungry, have totally stopped counting points in my head (which I have done for over 3 years). 94% FF Popcorn is on the Core list and that's one of my snacking foods anyway. I'm enjoying it!

Good luck!

congratulations swandiverpatt!! that is fabulous. and thank you for sharing your experience. i think i will go ahead and try it. if it doesn't seem to do the trick, i can always switch back. may i be as successful as you!! :cheer2:

Okay, I started back to WW meetings for the 3rd time last week and chose to stick with points again. I do have a question that I didn't think to ask at the meeting. Can you do points one week the core the next? I'm just wondering if people switch off between the two plans or if you strictly do one or the other.

that is one thing that my leader did cover! she said that you can switch but that they recommend that you do one for 2 weeks before switching. not sure if she was right, but that is what she said. hope this helps. maybe someone else can confirm or deny?? good luck!!

Yes, you can switch week to week. You just cannot change mid-week, you have to finish out the week on whatever plan you are doing.

3lilprincesses - I am doing core and I love it. I actually just started back on it. I hated counting points, this way is so much easier for me and I know that if I want something that is not core, I still have my 35 weekly allowance points to use. One thing that helps me a great deal is to have an "off" plan day. I use Saturday since that is the day I get weighed. I eat whatever I want on Saturday without thinking about it. Of course, I don't go crazy and pig out, but I will go out to dinner and have anything I want on the menu or I will snack on something and not count it at all. It helps me stick to the plan the rest of the week.

Good luck to you.

I did the Core plan for one week and lost 5.8 lbs!! I have never lost much more then 2 lbs in a week on Flex. I really liked Core but it didn't fit well into my life as far as the cost of food. It was much more expensive for me to do the Core plan & buy specific foods I could eat rather then Flex where I can eat whatever my family is having & just moderate my portions. I love WW in general though because regardless of which plan I do for the week I know I'm going to lose! It hasn't failed me yet !! Good Luck!! :flower:
