We are going down for what I call our first "real" trip. Usually we just head over for a day or two before/after visiting DH's parents....but this time we are staying for 7 days. We will be there Nov 17-24, with the first few days at Vistana and the last 3 at ASMu. We are driving in that Wed and I am hoping to get in to see Illuminations that night to kick off the trip. After that I really don't have a plan.

Any suggestions? What should we do or avoid doing that weekend and then into Thanksgiving week? Which days will be most crowded?

Maybe I can help. What ticket types do you have and what age are your kids? I have gone about 15 times or so.

Oh. I didnt see the pic. Looks like you are taking a lot of young ones!

Are you planning to go to all four parks?

Weekends are the most crowded because the locals are there. My two pieces of advice are 1) Do your homework. The Unofficial Guide has lots of info. Tailor your trip to the wants and likes of those going. Motion sickness ? Skip Space, etc. 2) Don't over plan. I've seen trip plans where every minute is accounted for. Chill at the pool from 2-3:30. What if it is raining then? You're there to have a good time so if you are tired got back early if not stay later.

Thanks guys for the replies. I should add that I am familiar with the parks as I grew up in Florida...pre-Disney Studios and Animal Kingdom though. Over the last few year's we've only visited Epcot and Magic Kingdom. I love the Passporter and have used it many times...I need to get the one for this year. I know that will help alot.

Jon, we have PAP's so we can pretty much travel anywhere, anytime. My oldest DD is my thrill ride buddy so she and I will be hitting those while DH takes the rest of the crew elsewhere. We know MK backwards and forwards and really want to visit the other 3 parks also.

Since we are staying offsite those first few days, will it be too difficult to leave a park and come back?...parks are closing somewhat early.

I should add also that I'd like to do the Rehitchin' Ceremony...though I've read some posts that mention Disney may not do that any longer.

If you are breaking up with the little ones and doing thrill rides, then I suggest hitting Disney-MGM Studios and doing Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, which are great. Obviously, big thrills will have fastpass, but you will still want to visit early. I like the Disney-MGM Studios because it has attractions all-around for everyone. Playhouse Disney has been rated the best little-kid attraction in Disney. The young ones will love it, especially if they watch Nick Jr. If you have a Little Mermaid Lover, she'll love the Little Meremaid show. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire will be good for the whole family, and since you can play along the older ones may like that 2. Disney-MGM Studios is my fav park.

Animal Kingdom doesn't have 2 many thrill rides. The little ones I doubt will do DINOSAUR, but may want to try Primeval whirl, which is a spinning coaster. The kids will want to try out the games at the midway. If you have a Pochahantas fan, there is a show for Pochahantas show there, as well as a lion king show, which your older ones will even like. Tarzan Rocks is good too, which features an extreme skating stunt at the end. It also has the Kali River Rapids ride, which you may want to do. I have seasonal Passes and they are still wet from that ride. :D

Do what old lost bot said about the pool thing, it gets very hot around noon.

Are you planning on going to a water park? If you are both water parks feature excellent kid sections. I recommend Blizzard Beach. If you go there, do Summit Plummet. But do that early or late in the day, cuz it draws 2 hour waits sometimes.

I hope I have helped in one way or another, and I hope your house is okay from the hurricanes.

I may be able to give you more tommorow, but I gotta get packing. ::yes::

Thanks Jon....have a great trip and a :bday:

I'm sorry to be replying on my own thread so much but I am really wanting some advice from other DISers who've traveled at this time of year.

Here's what I thought about last night....

Wed pm--Epcot, Illuminations
Thurs--Magic Kingdom, to kick off the trip right
Fri--Animal Kingdom, then home early, relax by the pool
Sat--MGM Studios, if it gets too crowded, we'll just head out...try to head back in for Fantasmic
Sun--we leave Vistana for ASMu--Epcot day, breaking in the middle of the day to get into the rooms
Mon--water park? then Spectro that night and Wishes
Tues--leave this open to choose
Wed--check out and head to Downtown Disney for the morning...then to inlaws for Thanksgiving

Sound plausible?

I think I'll switch AK and MGM
