Can someone please tell me what to do. I have a no wax kitchen floor. I've had a rug down for at least 5 years. We are trying to sell the house and I just found the floor yellow under the rug. I guess this is from the sun hitting it and the glue staining the floor. Please help. I really don't want to buy a new floor. Any ideas sure would be helpful!.

Thank you,

Kim

Hang on a minute...

Okay - had to run downstairs and check..

My son-in-law put me on to a product called "Zep No-Wax Floor Cleaner" that he picked up at Home Depot when he and my daughter put their house up for sale.. It comes in a spray bottle like Windex and is AWESOME !!

If that doesn't do the trick - what color is your floor? You might want to try lemon juice (straight) and let the sun hit it for awhile..

Does the rug have a rubber backing on it?

If so, I hate to tell you this, but I highly doubt any amount of cleaning is going to work. Rubber backed mats will cause a no-wax vinyl floor to yellow like that. I think it's a chemical reaction between the rubber backing and the floor itself that causes the discoloration.

You may not want to buy a new floor, but that may be your only alternative, unless you want to give a prospective buyer an allowance toward replacing the floor. Your cheapest way to replace it would probably be peel and stick vinyl tiles and do it yourself.

C.Ann---I will try this stuff today! Thanks. I have a feeling that it may not work since it does have a rubber backing. I am so pleased with all the ideas that you have given me.

Pop Daddy--I would love to leave the rug. You crack me up!!:D :D

Thanks,
Kim
