Need to change dates for trip, how to do this?

Right now we have a ressie at AKV for 10/12-10/17, due to a change in plans I need to change our dates to 10/26-11/1 in order to be able to travel with extended family. It seems the only way to do this online is to cancel the current reservation and book the new one, which leaves a small chance that I'd end up with no reservation. If I call MS can they do it in such a way where the new room is "on hold" and I won't lose the old room till the new one is booked? Or does it work the same way as if I booked it myself online?

Unless things have changed recently, MS has limited inventory hold capabilities. Only managers and senior staff could do so and they do not advertise that fact. We found out when MS lost our reservation during a switch.

I would think that the odds of it happening are slim but it could happen.

The dates you gave do not overlap, so I'm a little confused. You must be planning to keep the existing reservation and totally skip traveling with extended family if you can't change your dates.

IMO, assuming that the dates & villa you want to move to is available and that you make the change before the 7 month window opens on March 26, the chances of not getting what you want is very, very, VERY small.

Think about it - By now, it's a good bet that most home resort priority reservations have long been made. It's so unlikely that there is only one villa left for your dates and that another AKV owner will jump on it before you book.

Of course, this assumes you WANT to travel with extended family, LOL. I can alter my opinion if you need reasons to travel separately.
