Need the best motion sickness meds!

My DH and DD both get really, really bad motion sickness rather easily. Last summer we went on a boat ride on the ocean and had given DD non-drowsy Dramamine beforehand, she still got sick. One of the workers on the boat gave us MotionEaze, which is an oil that you rub behind the ears, it gets absorbed through the skin and "calms" the inner ear canals down. Helped my dd a ton and I now order it off amazon and carry it with us always. The nice thing about it is that you don't have to use it beforehand, you can take it after the fact and it still works pretty quickly.

Haven't read all the responses but a big yes to Bonine!!! And Walgreens sells a generic to it that works just as well! We cruise every year and I take one pill every day and have no side effects and it doesn't make me tired. I have been taking it every cruise for the past 6 years. Highly recommend it!!!

I've used Bonine and it helps with minor motion sickness for me and my DD (she gets car sick on long car rides). I don't think it is a miracle cure or anything though. I still can't ride Batman at Six Flags St Louis without feeling sick like I want to vomit. Same with the one and only time I rode Space Mountain. I normally avoid spinning rides or things that go upside down. I was hoping Bonine would help, but it didn't.

I sometimes take two if we are experiencing rough seas. Have you tried two?? I have never tried it for amusement park rides because I don't like any of them. Odd right?? Lol Love Disney but can't even ride the Barnstormer lol

I don't like a lot of spinning, but Mission: Space Orange never bothered me. The spinning manifests itself as G Forces. Of course, you have to follow "the rules" to make sure it doesn't affect you: stare straight forward fixedly, don't close your eyes, and don't move your head.
I get terrible motion sickness on spinning rides. And don't do so well on some simulators.
I was planning to ride the Green version of Mission Space. Anyone know how that version is? Still pretty rough? I'd hate to find out the hard way!

Those of you that use ginger, do you take it before the ride (if so, how long before), or is it more of an after ride thing to help with symptoms? Headed to Universal on Tuesday and am prone to motion sickness and worried about those rides!

My motion sickness kicks in pretty randomly (and I can't predict migraines, obviously), so I've never actually used ginger chews as a preventative measure. I feel like Universal does a really good job with syncing their 3D rides - none of them make me feel remotely nauseous. I've heard that some people have issues with Forbidden Journey though, but that's probably because the video isn't super sharp.

Hope everything goes well for you at Universal! Their rides are a blast!

Yes, MotionEaze is amazing! I used it at Disney and any other place I would start to get nauseaous, including while my husband is driving. It works almost instantly! I bought mine at Walmart. Have been using it for about 3 years.

I don't have any personal experience, but my mother has really, really bad motion sickness. She tried green version and she still felt awful after it. She didn't get sick, but felt pretty miserable for an hour or so after the ride. She will not go on it again. That's just her experience with it.

Has anybody tried ginger cookies? I know ginger pills work sometimes but I have a hard time taking pills so I would like to know if the cookies work so then it could be a nice treat as well.
