I have this darling Behnaz Sarafpour sweater (image below) that I received as a gift. As it's v. chilly where I live, I usually wear a turtleneck under everything until spring. However, I'm thinking that a turtleneck is not the best choice to put under this sweater. Anyone want to suggest a cozy alternative?

Thanks for the help!

I'd go with a ribbed button down sweater like they have in the picture.

There might be fashionistas out there with better ideas though!

Cozy? No, under that I think a satiny cami would be the thing to wear.

Ok -- it's not a lace jacket. The lace is overlayed and sewn onto the ivory button down sweater. It's all one piece. I have the whole thing as it's shown on the model below. I am always freezing and need something to go under the whole thing. The sweater alone will not keep me warm enough.

No can do ... a satiny cami would only make me more cold. Once that satin gets cold, it freezes you right up! A long john shirt, yeah ... satin cami -- no way, Jose! Remember -- it's the complete sweater, not just the lace overlay. It comes w/the lace sewn to the ivory sweater. Nobody would see the cami anyway and it would only make me colder!!!!!!

Another suggestion is a one of those cami things that are satiny on the outer side but flannel on the inside (I think the brand name is cuddle duds). It is not as cold here but I use these a lot in winter to keep me toasty.

I would wear a black long-sleeved knit top or light sweater under it. It's very cute!

I understood, but I couldn't think of anything else that would fit underneath.
Maybe some silk thermal underwear? I think there are some that would work.

i'm thinking thermal underwear...either the silk type or something that will fit very close to the body. you don't want anything too bulky, i think it would take away from the sweater, but on the same hand you want something warm. are you planning on wearing the sweater open or closed? it's really cute!

I'd wear the sweater closed.

Do you think a black shirt would look good? With a plain collar, rounded collar or fancy victorian ruffle or banded type collar would look good? I was thinking that maybe a black shirt might look good but what type of collar? I don't want to take away from the beauty of the sweater -- will a collar type shirt ruin it, do you think?

hmmmmm, i'm all for "less is more". the sweater is very pretty and I think if you add a blouse under it it'll just add bulk and take away from the simplicity of the sweater....

See, that's what I'm thinking. That's why I think a black knit shirt with a princess or slightly scooped neck would look best. Then, I'd leave the top button or two of the sweater unbuttoned.

That sounds cute. Off to the mall!!!! Thanks for the help Liberty Belle and everyone else!!!! :thumbsup2

I would wear something that doesn't show under the sweater, you will ruin the line and the look. I vote for cuddleduds or similar long underwear. They are thin but warm. I am a turtleneck person as well and the cuddleduds are a great option if you don't want something to show. I also wear some of the Jockey cami's under dressy clothes. They are thing and silky but are cotton so they are warmish.

Oh I see the problem! It's very pretty.
I usually just wear my silk long underwear under stuff all winter long - would something like that help? It gives me an extra layer of "skin".
