Need suggestions for May WDW vacation

I am planning a May 15-21 vacation. I have been to WDW 3 times in the last couple of years. We stayed at AS Movies the first two times and had to go with AS Music this past time because they would not let us get the free dining at the Movies. CM said they don't have any rooms available on May 18, so I booked at rack rate for May 15-18, leaving my vacation a little more confusing than I had hoped. Our son is 4 1/2 and he LOVES Movies, so I felt like I had to book what I could get, but I did not add on the tickets and dining we wanted because I was sort of in shock that the rooms were not available for our entire stay. I am wondering if anyone would think it is a good idea to do a split stay and stay at CBR for our other 3 nights. We want the meal plan, but were not sure they would let us do that if we split the reservation. Has anyone ever done this? If they will not let us do that, then maybe I can just add meals to our Movies room and buy a 7 day park ticket and then book a AAA room only at CBR if available. What I worry about is if our son will like CBR as they don't seem as geared toward little ones as the All-Stars.

Any thoughts? Also, anybody know of any discounts I can get on CBR during that time other than AAA? (I don't have AP)

Thanks!!!

Jen

I would try to get a different value resort for the entire stay - I do not like changing resorts in the middle of my vacation - I feel it take time away from my fun.

We really like Pop Century for the values - I bet your 4.5 YO would love all the huge Icons around the Pop resort.

With a little guy, I'd try and get the same resort for the whole stay. Could you try POP or is CB for your whole stay feasible?

Actually I discovered on the web site that they do have rooms available during that time at Movies, but it is preferred rooms. You would have thought they would have told me that, it would have saved me some time as I would have booked the preferred rooms right then.

Now that I think about it, it would certainly take away some of our vacation if we have to pack up and move hotels in the middle. Esp. if the room in the next hotel was not ready.

So, which would be better, Movies Preferred room $111 night or CBR (hoping to get AAA discount there) for $140 a night?

I guess I just don't want to cheat our vacations by never trying anything other than the Movies and Music. I just keep thinking of how fun it would be to be able to play at the "beach" and do some of the water related stuff at CBR, but I just don't know if it is as kid friendly as the Movies that our son loves so much. I think if we had preferred rooms at Movies though, the walks would certainly be shorter than a regular room at CBR. I don't mind walking, it is just after a few days of walking in parks the extra walking is not something you look forward to. Suggestions anyone?

We have decided to try the CBR. DH says he does not want to do All-stars, so that made my question a non-issue.

I have contacted my local AAA office and their price quote is the same as on Disney's web site, but they seem clueless that they have not given me a discount. I am anxious to see how it all turns out.
