I finally talked my other half into a trip now do I take advantage of the free dining and go in September (last day to book) or do I wait and go the first couple of weeks in December??? Please advise.....it would be nice to save the money on food. We are going to stay at either a mod or value resort.

Well, in my opinion, the only pro for September is the free food.

Pros for December - cooler weather, no love bugs and Christmas decorations.

We were torn about this too. My DH and I were going to make a trip in December without our DS (20). Then, my son asked if we could go before he goes back to college in early September. We decided to book a trip at the end of August to take advantage of Free Dining. I do not look forward to the heat, humidity and crowds. However, the family time is priceless.

I think I'd go with December.

The free dining is a huge savings, I stumbled across it by accident and got in. But the down side is I guess it is getting harder and harder to get choice ADR's. Upside, you can still get ADR's with some flexibility and determination.
I think I would find it hard to decide too, I would like to go sometime in December to check out the atmosphere, but this time, with 6 of us going, I was more attracted by something FREE. It is going to be great being able to eat at some nice sit down meals without sticker shock. I think I might consider free dining...best wishes on your decision.:wizard: princess:

I've never been in December but I do know you can't beat the crowd levels in September. Low crowds, still warm enough to swim, DDP, 3 positives in my book.

We were going to go in December, but Disney came out with free dining again, so we decided to go at the end of September again this year. This will probably be our last September trip, as next year DS starts 1st grade, and I don't think we'll be pulling him out of school in the beginning of the year. Next year we'll probably do a December trip. I'd love to see all of the decorations, and do the MVMCP. So, I think if it was just DH and I, we would do December. Have fun whenever you decide to go!

My vote is try to get in on Free Dining!! It really is a big savings if you want to try sit-down restaurants, plus we just love the convenience of knowing our food is paid for ahead of time.

We also love going in September. Crowds are less and we've just found it to be the perfect time to tour. We've gone twice in Sept. and I am planning our next trip for Sept. '08!

If you're big eaters, the free dining will save you a nice amount (especially at the values or mods). If September is your choice because of free dining, be prepared to start booking your ADRs just about as soon as you get the reservation; some of the TS restaurants are difficult-to-impossible to book! Be prepared to have alternatives.:thumbsup2

For us, the fall, winter, and spring are when we prefer to be in WDW. We're not big on Florida heat (nor on the love bugs), so faced with your choice, we would opt for December. Plus, you can't beat the gorgeous Xmas decorations at that time............WDW always is lovely, but at that time of year, it looks truly magical!pixiedust:

Book the free dining and hurry! It is better to book the free dining while you have the chance and change it if necessary later. September is one of the most quiet times at Disney because most children are back to school. The dining brings some people in but most resorts are still operating at lower capacity.
