You guys all got me through last wks 3nights/4days. Thank you so much.
Now I need the push/desire to make it through a 6night/7day trip. I was thinking I would be real good over the 3nights so I could blow it on the longer vaca. Now Im having 2nd thoughts. Definately bringing along zimas so I can relax w/a few drinks. And Im planning on bringing along my fruits again. DH is coming along w/us so it wont be a mother/son trip. It will be more difficult to stay on "diet" when Im not always in control of where we eat, etc.

What I need you guys to do is tell me I can "diet" again over this vaca. Please tell me not to blow it.

You can do it.

God bless you, best wishes, and encouragemet, RaySharpton (insert smiley face here...lol)

Barb- It's not a diet, it's a way of life. Period. (didn't you see the WISH creed?)LOL!!!

You can do this. Where are you going? Will you be taking a cooler? Is there a fridge in the room? Usually if I have at least one of those two things I can do well, and if there's a microwave thrown in, I'm good to go.

You can do this. Stock up on some of those Chewy granola bars too, they are good to munch on and low in calories. Triscuits are great with a little salsa. They are high in fiber and pretty low in calories.

Scope out where you are going and try to get some exercise in. I saw you walked to the top of the Indian Head tower and I can attest, that's no easy feat!!!!

You CAN DO THIS!!!!:)

One of the key things for me has been what anniet alluded to: This isn't negotiable. Eating healthfully and exercising each day are not optional for me. Short of another trip to Egypt (where the concept of deliberately trying to restrict calorie intake is about as common as guys named Rusty), planning vacations to facilitate my health management goals is a given. Would an insulin-dependent diabetic stop taking their medication just because they're on vacation? Of course not. I consider my healthful way of life to be as essential to my continued health as that. I'm worth that level of consideration and concern with regard to what I will eat and how I will exercise.

thanks -you gave me the reminder I needed to have a stronger mindframe

I did start this new way of eating so I could better improve my life. Actually I got scared and need to keep that scare in front of my mind.
I cant think of it as a diet. We have hereditary heart disease in my family and since I dont want to end up having heart surgery in a few years - Im gonna have to stick w/my fruits, veggies, yogurt and watch out for the ice cream, etc.

Some people can actually go on a "diet", loose the weight and go back to eating their old way. Im not one who can do that.

I'm not so sure. Given that most adults are overweight, I'd say that many have tried that, though...
