Hi I just recently got a new digital camera. Its a Sony VX DSC-W5. There is so many different settings and Im not sure what any of them mean! I purchased it at Wal-Mart and the people at the camera section arent very helpful.

I also am getting very red eyes on the pictures.

Thanks ahead if anyone can help!

The best place to start is the manual. When I read my first camera manual I only understood the first five pages. I would read some and then shoot. Then go back and read more and it helped to figure things out. Even two years after owning my first digital i would reread the manual and still find tiny little bits of info.

The red-eye is caused by the flash being so close to the camera lens. Your camera should have a red-eye reduction mode to help reduce red-eye. It will send a preflash which will cause the iris in the eye to close somewhat and eliminating all or most of the red-eye problem. But it cause another. In the early days of this function all the subjects thought that the first flash was the actual picture and they would start moving and ruin the actual shot.
