Need some advice on Epcot dining...

On our 2nd day in WDW we are heading to Epcot for late morning, 11-12ish and will probably have lunch shortly thereafter in the World Showcase area - "we" are myself, dh, ds4 & dd2.5...probably on the picky eaters side. Where would it be SAFE for us to eat? hee-hee I was looking at Cantina De San Angel in Mexico or Liberty Inn - would love opinion on either.

For dinner we could leave the park for a "fancier" dinner or stay in the Future World area...would love some ideas on that too. I really want to ride the monorail and this might be the time to take it from Epcot to a resort for a dinner meal...what about Whispering Canyon Cafe for this meal?

I so appreciate any suggestions...we leave in 9 days and Epcot just has me stummped!

We love to eat at Epcot. I don't really care for Liberty Inn. Coral Reef is nice for atmosphere and LeCellier is great for food. We like Yakitori for counter serve and the Tangierine Cafe as well. I haven't tried San Angel but we don't like Mexican food that much. The Akerhus was pretty good and so is Teppanyaki.....hoped I spelled some of those right!!

if your family likes mexican, then eat at mexico. we usually eat there for lunch, when we are there.

maybe the garden grill, in the land, would be great for future world...

i haven't eaten there since the remodeled it, but it was great before.

we are not fans of the liberty inn, it's just the same boring counter service. If you like mexican then the cantina is a pretty safe bet. Le Cellier would be a great choice, their menu is familiar but with touches that make it unique as well. Check out their menus. The Garden Grill has apparently changed quite a lot, we haven't eaten there yet but I don't think it sounds like a great place for picky eaters. The new counter service in The Land sounds like an interesting choice too. Good Luck!

can't help you out with epcot restaurants, except to say that i just read a really good review for biergarten today. now it is on my must do list.

but i just wanted to say that i think taking the monorail to dinner at a resort would be fun, but it doesn't go to Wilderness Lodge, so to go to Whispering Canyon, you would need to take the monorail to MK and then take the boat launch to Wilderness Lodge. it would still be fun, but you would need to allow more travel time. maybe it would be easier to do Ohana at the Polynesian, or anyplace at GF or CR.

There is a big difference between the Cantina and San Angel. Cantina is one step below Taco Bell, honestly. It's pretty bad. There are lots of other great places to dine there.

Does your family do chinese? They have a nice counter service there and though it's about the level of a mall chinese place it's better than the Cantina and the seating is better, as it's all covered and cooler - plus easier to find tables.

Tangerine Cafe is a huge fave of mine, in Morocco, though it's a bit more adventureous, I think it's fairly easy to like. Chicken kabobs, veggies, etc. Lots of food for not much $, also has good seating area.

Japan's counter is a lot like China, and it's an inside airconditioned place so it gets extra points =)

Course, the kids meals are just about all of them are the same thing so you and DH can do a little more and let them have the basic kids fare that is served everywhere.

I have never dined at Liberty Inn because the WS restaurants are too good to pass up for american far.

The counter in the Land (sunshine something?) is basic American food, too, if you want to try that =)

Whispering Canyon would be a trek from Epcot, and I don't think it's worth grabbing the bus and going just for that. If you were at MK it'd be different as it's a close boat ride. Not to discourage you from dining there, just that it would take a large chunk of time and energy to do it.

What about Boardwalk area restaurants? They are a short walk from Epcot and there are some great ones!

I disagree with a lot of posters on this board.

LeCellier is okay. Rose and Crown is good. France is very good but may not be the best place for picky eaters. I love San Angel Inn (Mexico) and like the counter service.

Coral Reef is good but maybe expensive. I have not been to the Garden Grill since remodel. Spoodles at BW is wonderful (it's a must do on our trips).

We've been to Shula's in Dolphin, but that can get pricey (about $50-75 per person).

My DH loves Japan's Hibachi. We've tried Nine Dragons and their counter service and will not return. We also would not return to Alfredo's in Italy. We have never tried Morocco, but friends say it's great.

We like O'hana's in Poly. Fried rice, Fried Shrimp Wontons, Salad, Chicken Wings, Grilled Turkey, Shrimp and Beef.

CA Grill and JIKO (at AKL) are my favorites. They will run $$$, but worth it.

The choice is yours.

we enjoy several restaurants. Let me start by agreeing that going to WCC from EPCOT can be a bit of a haul. So that might not be the best choice for dinner the night you are there.

We always enjoy San Angel but have not had the counter service. In December, family did Liberty Inn and I did Morocco (really enjoyed this). I had a chicken wrap w/ lentil salad and couscous (loved it). We've done the biergarten (husband loved the brat and beer and who wouldn't ).

We did Nine Dragons and while tasty, frankly I can get chinese as good at home for less than 1/2 the price. My sister really likes Teppanyaki but we haven't tried it (hibachi cooking like Benihana). We've eaten at Chefs de France but that is pricey. We're trying Le Cellier in Canada this trip. You might want to consider Rose and Crown (fish and chips) or the italian restaurant (I think it's Alfredo's).

You can always exit EPCOT at the International Gateway and try something on the Boardwalk or perhaps Beaches & Cream at the BC/YC. On the Boardwalk is the ESPN Club and Spoodles.

We let the kids get kid meals at Liberty Inn and they ended up getting to be "Chefs of the Day" there, got to go backstage, make sundaes, got announced to the other guests and castmembers took their pictures (which they said they'd email but we haven't gotten them ), anyway their food was fine. We got counter service in Mexico at the Cantina and it was fair at best, like previously mentioned, not quite as good as Taco Bell, not at all very Mexican, I lived in Mexico. The market and ride on the inside took me back to my second "home" in Mexico though. We only had CS meals at Epcot but we had a GREAT light meal at the CS in France. It's mostly a pastry shop but they have a cheese plate to DIE for, comes with grapes and a fresh baguette. My son had a ham and cheese quiche and he loved it, my Mom enjoyed a French Turkey Sandwich (it was a Turkey Sandwich on really good bread). Of COURSE we got some deserts and they were all fabulous. I also had a great cup of coffee there (until I commented on how good it was and I swear just as I said that the cup flew outta my hand and most of it spilled - must have been the ghost of a french coffee expert who disagreed with me )

Oh my gosh, I'm gonna have dreams about that cheese plate now... delicious!!!!!!! i forgot you can eat a meal at the bakery between the sandwiches, quiche, and desserts YUM!!!

We like the indoor counter service, it's either japanese or chinese My girls enjoy the rice, chicken dishes. Wish I could remember the name of the place, it's small, but yummy food, great kid meals.

I really like the Biergarten in Germany. The food is good and not too adventurous. Heck, there are even hot dogs . Plus, there is live music and great beer. It's more expensive that the counter service ($15.99/$7.99), but I have never had a bad meal there.
