I'm trying to buy a small contract from resale for BCV between 25 and 80 points.I've contacted tts and gave them my phone number to call back if something comes up. I guess they don't come up very often and when they do,they are gone within a few hours. Any advice how to better my chances landing a contract or is it going to be a long shot?

Small contracts are very desirable and sell for a higher price per point. I would contact all resellers, not just TTS. Good luck.

If you are already DVC member, you can get small contracts of 25 points or more direrect through Disney. If not, resale is your only choice. Good luck.

The TTS also sends out email notifications on the new contracts each day. Are you signed up for that? If not, you may want to do so since this is automatic where a salesperson needs to think about calling you (and probably several others who want the same thing as you).

When I bought my small contract I contacted all of the major resale brokers. I also checked their websites every couple of days. I ended up finding the contract on the website that I ended up purchasing (they didn't contact me about it because it wasn't exactly what I wanted was looking for 40-50 points ended up purchasing 60 points). I would also be as flexable as you can be about resort, use year and number of points. If there are multiple resorts that will work for you it improves your chances.

They had my work number when I was looking for a small contract. They called me at work, I said yes, they hollared to the others that it was sold and it was done. These go very quickly. If they are only calling you at home, you are going to miss out on them.

One thing I always suggest to people buying small contract is to price out what a slightly larger contract will cost. Once you include closing costs, small contracts can be $110+/point. Buying a 100+ point contract instead can be a real bargain.

For what its worth, the difference in price between small and large seems smallest at BCV.

We just bought 50 BCV points (Feb UY) direct thru Disney...took 17 days from the day I called to ask to be put on the W/L to the day I had access to my points...no closing costs w/a Disney add-on, price was $101 per point...breaking down resale closing costs (which you can negotiate to avoid paying, but one wonders if, given the quickness w/which small contracts go on the resale market, that is going to happen very often), it could add what amounts to $10/point to the dollars per point acquisition cost on a 50-point contract...

Anyway...there's no guarantee that Disney BCV points will again be available for your use year (to add on, it has to be the same use year) that quickly...but there's no cost to trying--When the points come through you can decline them if you've already nailed down a resale contract you like better...

Pixie dust on your search!

Have you contacted any other resellers? Don't put all your eggs in one basket. My experience with TSS was that they never contacted me. (Granted part of that was due to the illness of my sales rep, but it appeared to be a real matter of if YOUR sales person got the listing then you got the call first!)

Call it luck, but I called Disney a few months back and they had 38 BCV points with the same UY as my other contracts....needless to say I jumped on them the same day and had access to them the next day...

This would be my first contract with dvc so I cannot buy through Disney. That would definitely be the way to go if I was going to add points-no closing cost,no stripped down contracts, ect. Thanks for all the advice,I will contact some other resellers to increase my chances of getting a contract.

I was in the same situation looking for 75 pts at BCV. There were none available through Disney so I contacted several resellers and got set up with their daily email of new listings. One came across for BCV (100pts) and I was on the computer when it did. I automatically sent an email and jason from TTS called within about 2 minutes and we closed the deal. I learned you have to act very quickly when looking for smaller contracts.

I, too, am trying unsuccessfully to buy a small contract. I'm considering another option: asking the DVC member who has rented to me the last few years to buy an add-on then sell it right to me.

Does anyone know of any problems with this?

Tom: You should contact atimeshare.com, DVC by resale.com, and GMAC (which has a site called timesharesonly.com). There are a couple of posters here who are loyal to GMAC but I think most don't prefer them for a number of reasons I will not go into here. But I would call, get on their list and check out their listings. I saw they had a 100 pt BCV still open for resale.

Also, if you are really going for a small contract, I would not try to bargain too much.

Good luck with your purchase.

We wanted a small contract to start out, than we did an add on..
I called TTS and GMAC, GMAC had one we wanted, and it had all points from 2006.
I have heard some complaints about them from other posters, about them not following up-To be honest I don't know about that because I called them like weekly to see what was happening *lol*
But we found one and I think waiting for a small contract is difinitly worth the wait if you don't want the 160 point contract..
Good luck!

Price. They'll pay $100 a point for the resale, plus closing costs to sell it to you. You'll end up with a small number of very expensive points. If you work through a broker rather than finding and working a closing company yourself, there will be a commission as well. And I'd expect the DVC owner will need to make some profit off the transaction since they are likely to have several thousand dollars tied up for maybe two months.

I've read that the latest bwv point cost from disney is $98, so if the person sold it to me for $100, there's a small profit. Not sure how I'd find a closing company, though.

You'd have a very generous current owner who'd be willing to do this for you for a mere $50 profit on a 25 point contract, or a $100 profit on a $50 point contract. Personally, I wouldn't tie up the $2500 I'd have to tie up for a few months, plus deal with the paperwork, for less 10%, and I probably wouldn't do it at all.

yeah, that's a good point. I didn't think about the fact that they'd have to put the money out first. I guess I was thinking I'd pay her first and it would be my money tied up, assuming all went smoothly. But I've since discovered the vast database that GMAC has and should be able to find what I want there eventually.

Btw, good point someone had earlier asking if disney gives special rofr consideration to them because of their kickback fees. I wonder if that $195 fee is what goes right to disney.

Don't forget too, that even though that person might be willing to tie up funds to buy a small add-on to sell you, it could STILL get ROFR from Disney, and you still wouldn't have it.
