Need Smart Phone help!!

Hello all!!
I'm a Verizon customer and am able to upgrade to a new phone tomorrow. I am def looking for a smart phone and absolutely need a slide out keyboard. I don't want an iphone. Have had an ipod touch for almost 2 years and still LOATHE the touch screen keyboard. If the iphone had a slide out - I would get it!

But since it doesn't, I am just wondering what phones people like?? I looked at the Droid 2 Global today and I liked it! Does anyone have this phone? I saw mostly good reviews of it online. Any other Verizon customers with a recommendation for a smart phone with a slide out keyboard? Or do you think the Global is my best bet? Thanks in advance!! And why doesn't Apple do the slide out keyboard? LOL

My son has the original Droid, it isn't much different then the newer Droid 2. He loves it. I have a Droid X and MUCH prefer the touch screen keypad because the "keys" are so much larger. They are great phones, can do so much. I use mine to teather my laptop while traveling, use it as my GPS while driving, it is a mini-computer so surfing the net is great. I just downloaded a golf GPS app yesterday that I am DYING to try out on the golf course .

here is a hint.. look online for what you want (and pricing)
when you find it...don't go to the store... call customer care.

Say you are thinking of leaving......they will offer you lot better deal if not hang up and call back and ask for "retentions dept"

I have a DROID and LOVE it.. I need a key board so I went with a DROID , the DROID is one great phone/GPS/ Computer..

Thank you all for the advice! I wish we could "borrow" a phone for a day or 2 to really check it out. I hate having to commit after just playing in the store. Here's hoping I get the right one!

when i was looking for a smart phone..(though not any more.. did not get one)..
i was recommended the samsung galaxy many times by several different people.

Well...technically you can do this from the store but you have to pay a restocking fee. .

Our Verizon guy let me use his phone in the store-the display models don't really "work". I sent myself some text messages and watched Avitar on his phone for a bit--that is what convinced me to go with the X vs the Droid. I LOVE the larger screen size. The Droid is BY FAR the best phone I have ever had, no question. It is just so SO easy to use.
