we will be in parks mar 8-12 and I'm seeing lots of rain....please tell me we didn't flush thousands

It's probably going to rain.

But that's very, very common in Florida. It's nearly impossible to take a trip in the spring/summer without getting some kind of rain. The good news, is, however, it doesn't really hinder you. Bring some ponchos, some ziplocs for your electronics, and carry on with your day. Only a few rides close down for the day, and while everyone else is crowding into shops and restaurants, you'll be prepared enough to go and keep riding rides! The rainstorms rarely last all day long.

It is Florida. Rain happens. It was rainy these last several days, but very much not a washout. I had a friend posting his surprise weekend visit with his kids and they were having a blast.

I would not worry at all. Extremely unlikely for the entire trip to be a washout. We have gone to Disney in the rain many times including my daughter's birthday where we had BBB at Mk planned.

Just go with the flow.

We went on a week long trip in May of 2009 and it rained all day every day except the very first day. But, you know what? We had a blast. We wore ponchos and sandals so our feet could dry out. And we braved that rain day in and day out. Our hair was completely wacky, we looked like goofs, but we completely enjoyed ourselves.

Bright side to rain? All the fair weather travelers abandoned the parks and, I kid you not, we waited in line for nothing. NOTHING! We road Splash Mountain twice in a row without even getting off!

Rain isn't ideal, to be sure, but it doesn't have to stop the fun!

I never put stock in extended forecasts. Our local meterologists can't get the forecast right 2-3 days out let alone a week or more. Just make sure you have raincoats or ponchos in case it does rain, but either way it's vacation time, have fun!

A bad day at Disney is better than a great day at home! :wizard:

we are big pool people so we get disapointed with a rainy vacation. and we have been in dec. and feb. when it was cold.

that being said, you can go to wal mart and get cheapo disposable rain ponchos for $2 each.. buy a bunch of them bring umbrellas . and extra shoes, in case they get wet. and just go and have fun!!!!! i the spring, the florida rains don't last that long.. if it starts poutring, don't panic. just do something inside (like at epcot or DHS, or accept that , oh well, we're going to get wet.
don't give up and leave the parkmust have fun

We love it when it rains in Disney just for this reason. We have been known to head to back to the parks when it starts raining. In fact, there was one time where we just left MK because it was hot and getting crowded, but once we got to our room it started to rain. DH, the kids, and I all looked at each other and said "Let's Go!!!!" and we headed back out to MK. I kid you not, there was masses of people trying to get out of the park, while we were fighting to get in. The lines opened up quickly and we rode so many rides with no waits. I have always said, I don't mind being stuck in the rain at Disney, but in the "Real World"....not so much :rotfl:.

In 30 years I have never been to Disney when it didn't rain, I've been in every season and it's always rained. It's Florida, it rains. I've been through umbrellas, ponchos, rain coats and nothing and just playing in it, love it all. Do take extra shoes for the next day those puppies will take a while to dry, if we aren't already wearing a sandal type shoe we always carry a pair of flip flops in our back pack or whatever bag we are carrying (I usually have some sort of cross body bag) so we can change out shoes. I'm thinking of buying one of those full length see through rain coats sort of like the ones the Disney staff wear when it rains this year to test it. They tell me they are hot but since I freeze when it rains I figure that will work for me and I can fold it down to nothing and slip it in a bag or in a belt when not using.

I am just not understanding all these 'it's going to rain' threads....:confused3 I mean...why is everyone so overwrought about the weather, like any of us can change the weather, wherever we go? Yes, it has stressed me out a bit when it hurricanes on us while tent camping at the beach (twice) but other than places where we have to LIVE outside? why worry? Bring raingear, extra footwear, and enjoy all the great stuff to do at Disney when it's damp!
:thumbsup2That's part of the reason I love Disney vacations, unlike a beach, etc if it rains, just adjust a little and go have fun somewhere on property! Disney provides a cozy hotel room to go back to in the evenings, a place to dry my shoes and shower, a LOT of great restaurants to try, shopping to do.... attractions to enjoy.....:thumbsup2
DO we all prefer perfect temps and sunny skies? yes- but worrying overmuch is pointless..... I am amazed at the number of people who don't have/keep raingear for use at home anyway.... I don't need a poncho, I have an awesome Goretex raincoat that doubles as a light jacket when I need it....umbrellas that work....and I need it at home quite a bit too..... I just want to put this out there to all the peeps on all the 'rain' threads.... no matter the forecast...don't worry, prepare for all types of weather, and have fun! None of us can change the weather forecast...and BTW, our last trip, the forecast looked dire for days...we prepared, and guess what? no rain! no need to worry!Have Fun! Bring extra shoes! (best tip)

as someone who is worried about the rain, i totally understand. i spent years waiting to go, and now its 5 days away and i'm seeing rain rain and more rain. we all know disney vacations are not the cheapest....so of course we want sunny days. i know that can't happen all the time, its impossible. but we can dream and wish for it
