I booked a trip in September '08 at the CBR with free dining. Since booking I have read some pretty harsh reviews both on discussion boards and guide books about it not being very good. I personally think the resort looks beautiful. I also payed extra for a preferred room location. A deluxe is not in the budget for us, and I do not like the New Orleans theming of the Port Orleans, and the CSR just didn't look as nice to me. I like the tropical theming of the CBR. Can anyone who has stayed at the CBR reaffirm that this is a good resort? ESP in relation to the other mods?

We just returned from CBR. It is a beautiful resort. I don't think you need to pay for preferred. We had a corner room courtyard view and it was very beautiful. The beaches are nice and the hammocks are very relaxing. We stayed at POR last time and they are pretty much on par. Our room was closer to the main area at POR, however. We were in Martinque at CBR and it is a bit of a walk; it would be even farther at some of the other villages. Sometimes the walk was welcome, other times, not so (depending on how tired we were.) The rooms were nice and housekeeping was good. We didn't care for the beds; they were creaky and we all kept hitting the side of the bed frame (lots of bruises!) The food court was fine and there is a nice store. I thought the main pool was too small, slide wasn't very impressive, and there were way too few lounge chairs. We had two village pools within walking distance that were fine. There is construction going on the beach near the main pool. It didn't interfere with the main pool but it did interfer with the boating and biking. The resort is very laid back so if you enjoy that you should be happy. Let me know if you have any questions.

I've never stayed at any other mod so I can't compare for you, but I have stayed at CBR three times and enjoyed every stay.

The biggest thing about it seems to be size. Don't let that scare you, especially since you are paying for a preferred location. You will far from the custom house (check in/out), but that's not a problem as you will only have to go there twice in your trip and you can use the internal shuttle or bell services can bring you with your luggage.

You should be close to Old Port Royal which is where the marina, main pool, pool bar, restaurant, food court and gift shop are. The food court is good with nice selections and Shutter (sit down for dinner only) is excellent.

The main pool is being re-done so I can't tell you how it will be in the future but my DS liked it and loved the slide. My DH loves, loves the fact that every "island" has its own quiet pool. And quiet is not misleading...we have been in December, May and August and if there were 10 people at the pool it was a lot, usually only 4 or 5.

The hammocks on the beaches are very relaxing after a long day and nearby there is a playground on the beach for the kiddies which is great because my DS never relaxes at Disney.

The rooms are very nice although typical hotel. The double sinks are a plus in my book. The shower pressure was good for a resort of CBRs size. The rooms were very clean and very quiet. Only two floors, no elevators, so request first floor if you don't want to do stairs.

Any questions, please feel free to ask.

I've stayed at two of the other mods (POR and CSR), and I *greatly* prefer CBR. If you're staying in Martinique, then you're right next to Old Port Royale (IIRC, Trinidad North is the other preferred location), the marina, pool, pool bar, and have the least amount of walking, which seriously is not much. The first time we stayed, we stayed in Trinidad North, and last time in Aruba, and neither was a far walk.

Like storzo said, the quiet pools really are quiet. I barely saw anyone in them on both our visits, so that the main pool's under construction shouldn't be an issue. OPR has plenty of shopping, and I enjoyed the food court. The room size is good- CBR has the biggest rooms of all the moderate resorts, and I thought the sinks had the most space, too (with storage underneath as well). And we really liked taking the little boats out on the lagoon-the size of the resort means you're driving for awhile! Another plus is being able to see the EPCOT fireworks from one of the beaches (and the Aruba parking lot, as we found out last time!).

The grounds really are gorgeous and well-kept. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Different strokes for different folks- I realize CBR gets a bad rap from time to time, but I never understood that; we've loved both our stays. Have fun!

Love it there! Have stayed 4 times, I believe.

Just booked another one today, actually. :cool1:

Have stayed in Trin South 2 times, and then Trin North. Loved both. This time I am requesting Barbados or Aruba, though. I want a different view, and would really like to be close to the custom house!

We stayed at CBR (Jamaica) in Dec. 2006. No complaints, except the main pool was closed for refurb. We used the quiet pool and laundry room. Both were fine. We liked it a lot! :)

We love CBR! I don't have one complaint about it in all of the visits there I've had....except for when we stayed in Trinidad South--it was so far away from the main area we didn't even feel like 'part' of the resort...but some people like that....

I would definately recommend the preferred location as the non-preferred can be a bit of a hike.

I'm sure you will love it!

From the beaches and hammocks and beach chairs, to the boat rentals on the resort's own 45-acre lake, to the beautiful and lush foliage on the 1.4-mile Promenade walkway around the lake, to the great food court, to all the pools, to the Caribbean steel drum music overhead, to the quietness of the villages, to the bus stops close to every building..... we love CBR!!

I am staying there now. The resort is beautiful. It is my favorite Disney resort. You truly feel like you have escaped from the world when you stay at CBR.

You might want to check out the CBR FAQ thread, link listed below. I also have lots of CBR pictures in the links below.
