Brand new to these boards and love all the info!:D Me, DH & DS are staying at the WL on 12/05/02-12/15/02 & do want to try the Whispering Canyon for dinner one night. Do we need to make PS or do you think we could just wing it? We already have PS's for Ohanas, Teppanyaki, Tony's (before MVMCP 12/10) & LTT (before MVMCP on 12/12. Since we already have several PS's, I was hoping to have a few days of spontaneous choices, but I am afriad it will take forever to get a table. Also, CM told me that Pooh would be at charachter breakfast at 1900 Park Fare, but I read that he is only there for dinner. Can anyone tell me which is right? :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I think I'm addicted to these cute little bouncing guys!

yes, WCC is very popular and reservations are always a good idea. even t hough the time you all are going is considered "slow" reservations at the popular restaurants will keep you from having to wait or worse being disappointed by not being able to get a table. btw, the wilderness lodge is fabulous at christmas time.:p

Welcome to the DIS Poohbearmom

I think the position with 1900 Park Fare is this. The Character Dinner is always Pooh & Friends, but the breakfast characters can change around a bit (and you'll only know for sure what you get when you are there) - however, I believe Pooh is a pretty frequent visitor :)

Hopefully someone else will confirm that though as I've never actually done the brekkie myself!

Yes, make a PS for Whispering Canyon Cafe. Even in the value season, this can fill up quickly and a PS will mean a much shorter wait for a table.

Beware that WCC is quite the interactive dining experience -- depending on your server. It is also quite loud at times, so be prepared. But it can be LOADS of fun! If you are interested in participating in the antics, try some of these (not guaranteed to get a reaction or any reaction from your server, but worth a try):

1) Ask for ketchup
2) Ask for Pepsi (instead of Coke)
3) Ask where your server's six-shooter is (don't say "gun")
4) Ask where you can buy GUM at WDW
5) Ask for directions to the restrooms
6) Ask for directions to Universal Studios
7) Wear a hat/t-shirt from Universal Studios
8) Talk loudly (when your server is there) about the great time you had that day visiting Universal Studios

Be prepared. If your server is into the hijinks, it can be tons of fun, not just for your table, but sometimes for the entire restaurant!

As for Pooh and 1900 Park Fare; for b'fast I've mostly seen Alice in Wonderland characters, but on occasion I've hear Pooh makes an appearance. Pooh and friends appear regularly at the buffet dinner. While at 1900 Park Fare, try one of the smoothies (strawberry or chocolate). It's $4.95 (U.S.) but worth it!!

WCC sounds like tons of fun. I'm sure our DS will love it. As for 1900 Park Fare, I may consider changing that. My DS is not big on the Alice characters.

At WC we had a server who was very large and wore this really little hat. Of course, my daughter asked him why he had such a little hat with his big fat head. It was great, he broke into song, everyone loved it.
If the server recommends something like the smoked pork chops, as much as I LOVE BBQ and smoked meat, get the pork chops. I love beef, but the pork chops were spectacular!!!
The longest wait I ever had, even with priority seating was two years ago, between 12/01 and 12/07 at Wispering Canyons. Waited 45 minutes after the initial check in. There's allot to see in the lobby, and check out the different sitting areas on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Go for a walk outside and check out Old Faithful! Enjoy!
