We have been told that my Mom's condition is so poor that we should stop her treatment and let her pass peacefully.

We have decided to follow his advice.

Nothing in my life has been this difficult.

Kevin and John - you are all in our thoughts and prayers. With the small sample of experiences we have of your mother through stories and reviews on the Dis Unplugged, it is clear that she is a special lady indeed. My heart is filled with envy of your relationship and sadness from your heartbreak.

I went through this same thing less than 2 years ago. I offer my prayers to you, your mother, and your family. As hard as it was to watch my stepfather pass away in hospice, it was much better than it happening suddenly. I've been through that, as I know you have, and the shock and pain lasts a long time. I thank God for the opportunity to emotionally "prepare" and to be able to say goodbye. I feel your pain. God bless.

Your mother must have done an extraordinary job raising you and must be a beautiful person to have earned herself such a devoted and caring son. Sounds like you've both been very lucky to have the other.

From the sounds of it, nobody could be a better son than you are, Kevin.

Perhaps the only thing harder than losing people we love is watching them suffer. It's all so hard.

Although I don't know your perosnaly, I feel that I do from the boards/podcast. Sometimes being an adult truly sucks and being coming the discussion maker with a time like this sometimes doesn't seem fair...
I too went though this with my Dad....we had to look atthe type of quality of life Dad was going to have, and ask ourself, for who are we doing this for, our we being selfish trying to hold on to him....
so I had to make the same deiscussion as you & your brother

I am so so sorry to hear about your mom. The bond the two of you have and the way you have taken care of her is amazing. That alone speaks to how wonderful of a person she is.
