Hi guys,
I am in Grad School and I have a powerpoint project due this week. I need to finish it this weekend as I won't have any time starting Mon. ( Work part time, school full time, interning at an elementary school and still trying to keep my house in order and spend time w/husband and 4 year-old) I thought I had pp on my home computer as I downloaded it to pull my profs pp's off our school system ( called blackboard) but I apparently only have powerpoint VIEWER. So, I found a place where I can DL powerpoint 2003 for $90 , but you know what goes along with grad school? NO MONEY! I am not very tech savvy, but can any of the tech gurus on the dis point me in the right direction? Is there a free DL of powerpoint anywhere? I looked but didn't find any.

I went through that about a year ago with a project for one of my kids.
Try open office software. You can google the phrase, I can't include the URL because I lurk more than I post. Try the Impress software. You just have to be sure to save your work in the Microsoft office format rather than the openoffice format. The interface is very similar and I have never had a problem with compatability. If you read reviews of it there is a state government using it (Maryland??) and it is based on a sun computers product. Good luck !!

OpenOffice is your best bet. It's open-source and a great alternative to Microsoft products. I used it through my last couple years of college and never had any problems.

You can find the software at openoffice.org.

I looked at Open Office but didn't see a powerpoint application.

In OpenOffice, the powerpoint equivalent is called Impress. Try it. Make sure you downloaded the complete OpenOffice.

Well, OpenOffice might not be acceptable if the requirements are absolute. My profs are very insistent on using PowerPoint only.

I also use Blackboard. :thumbsup2

Would you be able to go to your school's computing center or get a student copy via your university in some way?

How about getting access thru the school you work at? I know the teachers at my kids' school have PowerPoint downloaded since they give presentations a lot. As an "employee"/intern I am thinking perhaps they can let you download it, too.

GL!

Thanks, guys.

So sorry to post and run last night, but after a full day of me working on various school things , my 4 year old wouldn't go to sleep without me , and then I fell asleep on her bed with her. My husband didn't wake me up until this AM. You guys have given me some great suggestions and I will
figure something out. I refuse to be 'doomed' :goodvibes

Now someone tell me grad school will be worth it and improve the lives of my family! :badpc:
