Without going into a lot of detail.....
I will be taking my kids solo on vacation this year (and for years going forward)
DS is 6 and DD is 4... Would I be better off taking them on a Disney Cruise or to continue our plan of DW? They are not "rovers" so I'm not so much worried about keeping track of them but I'm sure its trying to keep up an eye on both in the crowds, q's, etc... Would I be better off on the DCL where they would be a little more "contained"??
I'm sure bunches of people have done this so any advice or insight would be helpful.

Thanks!

Just wishing you lots of good wishes, Tinky, now and in the future. I only have experience with the parks, so no comparative input from me, just a

I would continue with the WDW resorts at that age. We did the Disney Cruise and the kids played in the pool all day on the boat, and at the beach at castaway cay. they went into the oceaneers club at night after dinner, but it was so late by then that they fell asleep. They wanted to go there during the day, but it was only a 3 day cruise ( we did land and sea) and I didnt want them gone all day. If it were just the 3 of you, YOU may be a little bored! hehe.. they had a kids pool.. and I dont think adults were even allowed on the slide. the kids went with the other kids for awhile at castaway cay, so we just sat on the beach for awhile. It was chilly that day, so I didnt venture into the ocean. then we stopped at nassau, and really didnt like it. Dragging your kids thru a rather dirty Nassau, or Magic Kingdom... lol.. hmmm.. ;) I just think that they would have more fun at the parks at that age. Then you can do everything together. Dont get me wrong, the cruise was great, but if I had to choose, Id do the parks with kids that age. I think you would be able to handle them fine at 4 & 6. If you needed a stroller, you could rent it, and you wouldnt have to worry about dragging it on and off the bus with 2 kids alone! So thats my vote.. good luck and have fun which ever you decide!!Oh.. If you are going at it alone, maybe it would be best to go off peak season when the crowds are low and the parks close earlier. then you wont have tons of people there, you get to do more, and you dont feel like you have to stay until 10 at night and have sleepy kids. Its great to go in January and stay at the parks all day when they close at 7!

You cant go wrong with either.

WDW- has lots of variety, stay on property and use the transportation.

Cruise- lots of activities for the kids. They have the option of doing a lot or a little. It seemed like they were constantly doing something in the Oceaneer Club. Depending on age it will determine the various activities. As for cost you pay once and it really is a very good deal. Additional cost would be excursions, refillable mugs and souvineers.

Grumpy & Aimee, Thanks for the input! They are DW vets and are pretty familiar with all the parks so they know what to expect. We were going to try and go strollerless this trip but its sounding better all the time to get one :)
Going off season is also a great idea!

Dan,
Thanks for the kind words and the hug! Many thanks!

Just giving my 2 cents worth here - my son is 5 and has been to WDW 5 times. We took him on the cruise last June (Land and Sea) and asked him if he would rather go back to WDW or to the cruise again and he said the cruise. We were a little surprised and even took a trip for Christmas this year to WDW again. He asked why we weren't going on the cruise!

He loved the kids club on board the ship. The only thing we would do differently is not to have him eat every meal with us on the ship as they do drag out kind of long and he was bored after the appetizers.

You could try the Land and Sea cruise package. 4 days at WDW first and then 3 glorious/relaxing days on the ship! MARVELOUS!
