Need Opinions From Those Who "Get It"...

Going to disagree with the others who say reschedule. I am 67 and most of the time hit the parks walking the whole way. When for whatever reason that becomes "uncomfortable" and by that I do not mean impossible or painful but just uncomfortable or too tiring, I rent a scooter. It seemed to me that often the attitude here towards renting a scooter was like last ditch option, I want to say that the days I have rented a scooter - and I have been going to WDW for 20 years now - I had more fun and was less tired than when I toughed it out walking. I do not try to take the scooter on rides or used the handicapped access. I park the scooter and get in line with everyone else, but the scooter is a ready place to sit and keeps me from getting so danged tired! So I would say do not even think about trying to walk it. Rent yourself a scooter and have a great time!

There's a huge difference between uncomfortable and being in pain.

Agree. The decision tree is actually quite simple.

Go while still healing and the trip could be...
a) Great. No pain or discomfort at all.
b) Not bad. Some pain and discomfort.
c) A big mistake. Couldn't cope, and was in tears most days.

Go when fully healed and you take (b) and (c) out of play. If you are risking large sums of money on a trip, why even take a chance that (b) and (c) could happen? If the choice was: "This is my one and only chance to go, and if I cancel, I'll never make it back", then you could get a different result. But if the trip is going to happen one way or the other, the logical solution is to eliminate (b) and (c) to the greatest degree possible. This is the same reasoning behind the cancellation of rocket launches even if there is only a 2% chance of failure. It's going to happen. And it is going to happen in the relatively near future. So why allow the risk of failure to jump up and bite you.

Does anyone recall this exchange from "When Harry Met Sally?"

Marie: I don't think he's ever going to leave her.
Sally: Nobody thinks he's ever going to leave her.
Marie: You're right, you're right. I know you're right.

Only our version is;

Tbone17701: I probably shouldn't go in April.
DISers: Of course you shouldn't.
Tbone17701: You're right, You're right. I know you're right.

I appreciate all input as I know each of you feels my pain (some more literally than others:(). For every vote to go, I give a heavy sigh of relief. For every vote to postpone, I think..."Really?", followed by Marie's empty "You're right, You're right....". I guess the happy medium is to see how it feels when the cast is off, get to PT and go from there. Believe it or not, summer heat is the evil big brother to Easter crowds for us and postponing past June is not a safe bet for DH's job (but that's a different can of worms:sad2:). The scooter thing is...well, it is what it is I guess...a potentially necessary evil. I just have to consider the added cost of the 10 t-shirts in varying shades of neon that say "I'M SORRY" front and back that I'll need to order!:rolleyes2

Oh I'm SO sad for you!!!!

I broke my ankle LAST December and just got back from Disney last night. I was so happy to have taken my ankle brace because ... oh my goodness ... it was barking. I would suggest postponing your special trip or renting a scooter. You won't be feeling well otherwise. :(

Hang in there, OP! You do what you feel comfortable with.

You should wait. Maybe go the last week of school, all of the grading should be done and crowds will not be crazy yet. I'm sorry this happened!
