Need NON-New Englanders to answer this for me

When native Floridians talk about "The Cape" they don't mean Cape Cod.

Right. I don't think I'd assume Cape Cod unless I knew the person was from New England.

MN checking in and yes I knew that. My family grew up in Cape Cod. My mom was born in New Bedford and my aunt has a summer home in Falmouth.

FWIW, here when you say "going to the lake" you are going to your summer home (cabin). I LOOOOVE having a cabin. DH and I hope to buy our own in a few years. The family one right now is exactly 2 hours away. Enough of a retreat, without being too far.

Native CT-er here, so I know what The Cape is! My DH is from Delaware and to him "The Cape" means Cape Henlopen.
