You may wish to consider the Swan or Dolphin. These are on-property resorts at the Epcot area, but more hotel-like than say Caribbean Resort. Some of the larger Disney resorts have preferred buildings that are closer to the main building--another option.

I can't comment on the pools at any of these hotels; I'm not a pool person.

I would suggest the Marriott World Center. It is very close, has multiple restaurants, a wonderful extremely large pool, and a daily breakfast buffet.

I 2nd the suggestion for the Gaylord. It very close (just outside the gates). Its beautiful. And the prices are great. They run specials often. Check Mousesavers.com for discount rates.


Edited to Add: The only thing I do not suggest at the Gaylord is the bus service. They have a bus for all 4 parks, but that bus visits ALL FOUR PARKS in one ride. Meaning if you are going to Animal Kingdom, you must first sit through the ride to MK, EPCOT, and DHS before getting there.
